    300bhp 5

What the cheapest and most reliable way to get a 5 to 300bhp? Engine conversion?

Engine conversion is the easiest way, however it wont be cheap any route you take. Gearbox and shafts boom every few miles

F7p, t28 turbo, skimmed pistons, std cams, chipped ecu. 300bhp easy.

    Re: 300bhp 5

Your looking at a full rebuild on a f7p if you go flat top pistons
Clutch, will require a paddle or similar
Ecu - best part of 1k
Mapping - only cheap if you can do it yourself
Fuel system - pump, injectors etc
    Exhaust manifold & downpipe
    Intercooler & boost hoses
All other ancillaries - cooling - rad etc
Turbo - your gt28 will probably do the job
Engine mounts, o.e no good really
Probs need to look at the suspension and breaks - id say 300hp is too much for standard sized discs and the extra weight will require suspension tweaks if you want it to corner.

Its a fair old list, pretty much all the c1j stuff needs to be binned. Could be cheap if you get bits second hand but you could be waiting for ages, depends on timescale

Once again depends on how much you want to spend, on a fairly basic set up 240bhp has been achieved easily but with more mods and standalone then a lot more is capable
I'm into getting the most from these engines nowadays

To get the most out of any engine the expense comes from having a standalone ecu fitted, for me to get best from the B18FT and any other engine I would go this route regardless.

As for the B18FT it does need a good camshaft fitted in there to allow it to breath a lot more, as there's none avalliable it will need to be ground to a spec of your choice (or few I have in my head)
Bottom ends are strong so they are ok as they are, might be worth taking the exhaust ports out abit on the head and then have a tubular manifold made for it although you can still perform well enough on the standard one

What spec was the GT28 you had again mate?

I think that turbo will work although might be worth double checking housings and wheel sizes
Yeah Omex ecu will be fine mate
That's cool I can sort cam out and have the springs sorted if needs be

You can use the gt box mate, it'll bolt straight up

I have 2 complete Volvo engines and 2 in bits so got plenty here to work with

If you are on a budget then these would be your best option as it comes ready to fit.
Ebay 230959068719 or 110945975502 with a longer loom.

I'll pm you in abit mate, yeah its all complete manifolds still fitted on. I have an alternator and starter laying around I can stick with it too
Yes the manifold its T25 flange so your ok there, I have a few little goodies here for the Volvo too so you may be interested in these too

Saab red injectors fit fine, as do the Volvo T5 orange ones which are a little smaller in cc but still work well

I would port the exhaust ports in the head abit too

You'll need an intercooler, hoses, rad, new fuel pump and then usual stuff really

    Re: 300bhp 5

Std rad will be fine, I use a Bosch 044 but had a mk1 golf gti pump and that was fine at 20psi boost, if using standalone no mad needed if you're going to stick with std ecus for a bit then you will need the black plastic ecu to have the boost limit removed and turn the mad to roughly 650ohms roughly as a good starting point for 1bar boost.

    Re: 300bhp 5

So if I read it right with the standard ecu with boost limit removed what power would it make on a gt2871?
