    jamie's r5 ph 1 build

Well i picked up my first 5 at the weekend got a lot of plans for it this is how it stands il get some more pics up soon. It didnt come with any reciepts but from what i can see it has:

    lowering springs
    full stainless exhaust
    oz volcano alloys
    subaru front seats
    rgm bonnet
various samco hoses in the engine bay
    boost gauge mounted on dash

plans are firstly full serivce, full respray, get the interior back to standard get origninal pase 1 bumpers arches grille etc and maybe coilovers then concentrate on the engine. Got a few sets of wheels to choose from in my garage some 13x8 alleycats clio turbine and r19 turbines but i dont really want any of them for the 5 im on the look out for another set hopefully i can find them

here it is the day i picked it up

gave the car a wash and polish and cleaned the interior, bascially its hasd a blowover at some point and all the plastic bumpers etc have just been painted so in places its flaking of not a very good job at all. took the silly stickers of the boot and had a look at sorting my oil pressure gauge but some one has bodged up the wiring Heres a couple of shots of it had a look down the gaps in the sideskirts as there not really attached to well and the sills look mint so quite happy woith that new wheels coming soon

not the best pic of the interior no idea what the camera was doing lol

Looks good mate, if side skirts arent attached that securely it could be that the clips that hold them on have rusted, these are still available but skirts would have to come off to fit them so can give the sills a once over/waxoil underseal whilst you're there

    Re: jamie's r5 ph 1 build

just a little update on the 5, been gathering parts mostly at the mo. Firstly i got myself a standard bonnet, then Picked up a set of phase 2 alloys and a set of phase 1 alloys, got a new bonnet catch for the standard bonnet as at the moment it uses bonnet pins. i gave the phase 1 alloys just a quick spray over in matt black im not sticking with these alloys they are just temp until the alloys im after come up but heres how it stands now. I got a new dizzy cap and rotor arm plus leads and put them on today as it started to miss when i took it for a short run in the wet the other day this has made it better but its still there so i have ordered some new plugs as everything was looking a bit tired and ive also got oil and filter etc on its way one of the valves on the tyres is knacked so need to get a new tyre hence why it is flat lol

had a proper look at the engine today and also trial fitted the phase 2 alloys just to see what they looked like and fitted some standard front indicators. They were apparently in excellent condition but came with a hole in the front with tape over it not impressed ;(

    Re: jamie's r5 ph 1 build

just a quick up date i picked up the new wheels for the 5 and also decided to take the kit of as im returning it to its priginal black and amazingly found no rot at all a bit of surface rust and thats about it so i was very pleased. So it will get a good coating of underseal before the kit goes back on after its painted, any suggestions what people have used to get the orginal look back on the bumpers etc. i also fitted a standard bonnet and painted it matt black just for the time being.
