    running hot?

Noticed my car has aways been rubing abit hot, the temp Gauge is normally hovering around the 3rd line, even on motoway journeys at about 65-70 dosnt really come much lower, then if I give her some boost it sometimes creeps over the 3rd mark n that's when I get scared lol,

Just drained the coolant today and put some fresh Renault stuff in. I bled the system and its still the same,

I am running one of those ktek front mount which is the size of the rad and was wondering weather this is blocking some air flow to the rad?

Or does everyone else sit this hot?

    Re: running hot?

I'd be giving the whole system a flush after checking for leaks. Then I'd chuck in some quality coolant, given it a good bleed to get out all the air.

    I can't see any leaks,

    Re: running hot?

I think so, I bought the car about 3 months ago so wouldn't know if its been changed,

At the moment its not going through the heater matrix as it leaking so I bi passed it for now, could this also be the problem?

    Re: running hot?

Ideally you want it going through the matrix as that acts as a small radiator. If I was you I'd fix the matrix (pain in the arse!) flush and refill the system and see how it is. If it still gets a bit warm I'd be looking at replacing the radiator and perhaps chuck a new stat in too

    Re: running hot?

That sounds just like when we took carcrash's 5 for it s first MOT. Car would sit there idling fine with the fan kicking in and out but as soon as you started to drive the temp went up past the 11 o'clock mark. New radiator and it was fine.

    Re: running hot?

Cheers all, will order heater matrix when mike gets back and also a rad,

Any guides on here on the heater matrix? is it possible to cut a little of the bulk head and bring it back through the engine bay rather then dash out job?

Looks o.e to me ...Old rads imo just dont perform as well as they used too. You can flush them and clean them out but they just arnt the same. A newer / brand new rad should solve the problem

    Re: running hot?

me and ellz had a play with this at weekend, hes put a new stat in, fan switch is low temp, we re flushed coolant and ran through with hose. And the rad is the rad with plastic sides, is that the 1 from the clio diesels? And looks fairly new.

Anyway... still the same really, getting abit hot.

The ktec cooler sits infront of the rad, and the oil cooler below the intercooler so the rad is getting no flow other than what comes out the back of the cooler's
