Yeah you do loose all the noise when fitting an oe airbox which is shame as it does allow you to hear all the other rattles and bangs which you never knew you had!

For me is all depends on how you want to keep the look of your engine bay, if you want an original look then standard air box is good (as everyone says does work well) but if your willing to move stuff about and fit air filter up front of the car then i go aftermarket filter all the time

Yep but fed air from the front and sealed from the heat.. I see both points if you want noise go after market if you want clean air and silence go oe. I went o.e. still pulls the same..

Yup, and shielded from that nasty hot air in a nice big sealed metal container which is fed by nice cool air from the front of the car!

I always felt the standard set up made the car pick up better from low revs No noise though

Re: Air filter for phase 2

Just came to work in the 5 and with no one around on the a610 gave it some size 9s and it's strange no noise but still plenty of boot!! Can't wait for my AFR kit of the scoff and then the t28 comes on :-) that will be a happy day.. Back to the noise I'm 35 and it keeps the mrs happy it being all quiet by day.. Can always change it for track days..
