    Old Cars on the road...

Its funny how today I was driving home from work and passed a C reg mini metro 4 door driving the other way... As it went past I thought, blimey thats old, you don't see many C reg cars on the road these days, it must be either on its last legs or well looked after!

I wonder if people think that about us in our old Reno's?

All depends who it is really. Most birds/non car people will think ****e old car, people who like cars will appreciate and think classic.

When i see a tatty oldish car i always think 'survivor' or mot dodger lol. Theres an old subaru on an a reg near me and looks like it should have been weighed in ten years ago due to rust! Still plods on every day though

I like playing up to it personally.. I work in an office enviroment and its very much not what car do you drive.. but what year is it.. i love disgusting my office wih comments like.. " if i blow it up ill bang another engine in tomorrow night so dont worry i wont be late". There are times when i think, hmm id like a nice modern reliable car.. but then i remind myself how when it goes wrong ill be at the hands of the mechanic/garage and computer diags and sensors that are there purely just for the sake of being there and costing countless pounds.. i mean.. if i was told a sensor had gone and it was gona cost £460 etc , id be comparing that to a full bottom end rebuild on a r5, i just dont think id ever be able to hand over the cash..

Strange one really, I look at older cars for example say a j reg Mazda mx-5 and don't think of it as old, yet I will see a ford escort of similar age and think "look at that old dog"

So I suppose cars are like women, some age well and others clearly don't

For what it's worth I call my raider the old French slag, everytime I get in I rinse it!

my Dad has spent thousands in the last year on his 5 series on sensors and ECU problems etc, I paid 900 quid for my Punto and done 16k in it and only cost me an MOT and set of tyres

ashy mate they do big time,I was driving down the road today, and had to stop at a zebra crossing and two guys stood in the middle of it pointing and giving the thumbs up,it was a little awkward after like 10 seconds but flattering all the same.
unless they were just looking at the funny looking baldly guy driving and laughing
