    Fuel pump making buzzing noise?

my fuel pump has started to make a buzzing noise. does this mean it is about to die? i have a spare ready to fit. is it worth swapping them over now?

any tips on the easiest way to fit?

    Doesn't that mean it's on?

They're quite straight forward from what I remember, just undo the bracket and take the pipes off.. oh use wd40 on the bolts

the auxiliary pump is located at the front of the reserve tank

Put in some fuel and see if the noise dissapears... Is the noise intermittent?

Nope. First time I heard it. I will check the bracket also as it sounds like a vibrating noise. Jst don't want my fuel pump to die whilst out.

how much do you know about your particular 5?....may be an idea to go through the basic service items an replace things like fuel filter to...just keep tabs on everything an make a note when you fitted certain things..

fuel filter was changed about 4 months ago.
just went out to start the car and no noise at all. could it of been the reserve pump pumping fuel into the main tank? how long does the reserve pump stay on for at a time?

From what it sounds like your saying, it's the reserve pump pumping into main. It'll only do it for around 30 seconds or so from what I recall. You don't want to run it near empty otherwise you'll only be striping your carb down eventually
