    timing chain gasket replacement

I have an oil leak which i suspect is coming from the oil seal that goes over pulley hub (going to whip pulley off tonight to confirm).

Do i have to take sump off to replace the timing chain cover gasket or can i leave it in place?

Also what is the best sealant to use?

    many thanks in advance neil

    Re: timing chain gasket replacement

Well ive just taken the pulley off, but im not sure if its leaking from the rubber seal where pulley hub is or if its leaking from where chain cover meets sump.

Im sure someone can quickly answer my question above, ie do i need to take sump off to replace chain cover gasket. Also what sump sealant do you guys use?

Please help apart from a mile to mot station last week ive not driven the girl for over 7 years.
