head bolt, gasket question

Hi engine is out of car and i want to put head back on.
Autodata says to re-torque head after its been started.
Can that be done at a later date as i need to crane the engine back in the car on the head mounting points and car prob wont be started for a few weeks.
Also what torque is good for high tensile uprated head bolts.

The High tensile non stretch bolts can be done up from 60-90nm. Alot of people seem to go for around 80nm. Obviously do this in the correct order, and make sure your thread holes are clean and not full of crap and water.

if you have torqued the bolts to 80mn, theres no need to retorque them.

Always retorque the headbolts, its poor advice telling somebody not to only takes 5 mins anyway finish the job off properly.

Boustie, just retorque it after you have fired it up & heat cycled the engine.

if there non stretched ,and tightened to 80 nm with high tensile washers then why would you have to re- tighten the bolts your not in effect stretching them to within there limit , on a c1j i would agree on a re tighten, because you are taking the m10x12.9 to the limit but not on a m12x 12.9 tensile bolt,that will take 100nm

Well iam assuming this is a c1j thats why i said re torque...if the book says do it then its daft not to..

The PRV V6 has 5 different bolt procedures .Some are not re torqued at all others you are supposed to set the gasket ,run cool slacken off completely then redo
I can only put this down to gasket design + 10.9s for turbo variety .
I set them , then wang them all in to 120nm with 10.9s and leave .One reason being is that you can't physically get to one of the bolts with a torque socket when the lump is in the car
m12 fine 10.9 will take 150nm

each to there own, ive never re-torqued and never had a problem with 12.9 bolts. so for me personally its always worked theres no harm done in re-torquing the bolts

For the sake of 15 minutes, I know what I'd do
