starting/idling issues??

hey folks. cars been off the road for a while.. hasn't started in about 3 or 4 months.. changed oil cooler lines to braided ones, done oil filter, plugs and oil, also flushed coolant then refilled. went to start.. obviously took a while.. then idled fine for about 15min then just died... tried starting again but wouldnt.. petrol light was on so thought that this was the prob.. left it for a day or two then put a fiver's worth of petrol in tonight and it started.. same again, idled for about 10 min then died.. tried to restart but wont.. surely wouldnt have used a fiver of petrol in 5min.... anyone got any pointers..

Try putting another fiver in it mate becuase i am sure the reserve tank holds about 9 litres and it will have to be full before the flap to the main tank opens some one else may verify this but its what happened to me when i ran out of fuel 2 trips with the can later and i was on my way.
