    starter problem????? help needed

    ok i took the engine out of the tungy, changed boxs as seconds was gone in old box, new box was definately a 5 box.. i used old starter that was on tungy an the same flywheel so just the box was diff.. now when fitted to the raider it wont mecsh properly, engine will start but make masses of crunchin, whining when turnin over but when started its fine so def a mecshin prob.. i have tried the dowl in both the starter holes an does the same in both?? help needed any ideas welcome

    Sounds like the starter dowel is in the wrong place if the starter teeth are ok & the ring gear on the flywheel is fine.

    ive tried in both the holes where it can go an its worse in one than the other starter def looks ok an flywheel has a little little bit of wear on teeth from tryin to sort prob...

    R u sure the starter is ok, Does it have lot of play in the starting cog?
