    campus filler neck conversion

    just wondering what the score is... i need to do some welding on my r5 boot floor, and i have been thinking for a while about doing the campus filler neck conversion and doing away with the aux tank as it just all seems a bit pointless to me.

    Whats the score , whats involved, what do i need.

    Well i got a full campus filler neck coming of in the next couple of days, i think it really just a case of wanting to loose some weight and make the the fuel relay last longer.

    whats the effect of this on the fuel sender side of things, does it mean that when the usual fuel light comes on the car will stop as it no longer has the aux tank to pull fuel from ?

    When I did this on my 5 I had to get a longer section of hose to go between the filler tube and tank, picked up a section of hose off ebay for about £5.

    anybody able to comment on the fuel light possible issue..

    does the gtt fuel light come on just as it moves onto the aux tank , or does it come on when theres fuel in both the main and aux..

    I guess the question is , how many miles do you usually have left once the fuel lights come on.

    Re: campus filler neck conversion

    I would say not many at all.. I run this conversation and I wouldn't like to go no more than 2 miles with the light on.. Couple of solutions;
    1, is to keep a jerry can with you Or
    2, simply don't let the level go down to much

    The float for this is in the main tank not the Aux..

    If you are that worried, you could get it low so the light just comes on, then adjust the needle slightly on the clocks
