    heat not working

i have the problem that water temp not increase when the temperature outside is colder.Temparature stays 50-60 degreese all time and not warm inside the car.And is quite annoying when outside is -10degreese and in car is cold like hell.
The reason is,i suppose, that the water in engine don't reaches 80-90degrees to get warm inside. When standing still the water temp increase and inside is warm, the minute i run the water decreases again.I got a high temp thermostat but never get to open because the water does not increase.
i always got problem with the heat in car on winter months and pisses me off to run in the cold .Someone got a solution?????????

    Re: heat not working

in my opinion i find most older cars, when its cold outside and you are driving you tend to suck in just cold air all the time, so the car while driving wont get up to 80 + degree dont think there alot that could be done unless you block off the grill etc to reduce the amount of cold air getting in.
i get this problem on my m reg seat toledo i just put up with it the most anoying thing is that you cant clear the windscreen so have to have the window down and freeze

Its all to do with the thermostat and how it operates. If its shut, you wont get full flowrate round the system hense, engine heats up. When circulating water is up to temperature, the thermostat starts to open and regulate.

I would see if your thermostat is working correctly.

surely if the water does not rise to the temp that the thermostat should open then the thermostat wont open anyway

Make sure you've bleed the system correctly
Lift the tank and blow into it
Had the same problem and took a couple of attemptsat bleeding the system
    Before it worked correctly

    Re: heat not working

i tried every solution, change thermostat, bleed the system thousand times,i clean de inside heater, etc and nothing work.I'm not saying is only give cold air but is not enough to feel ok inside the car.if the water temperature would increase would be OK and would put hot air in, but the problem is that water does not grow more than 60-65 degrees as i say. This is the problem, why not increase the water temperature? ?

    Re: heat not working

i took mine for a drive to exeter and was freezing because the front vents were just blowing cold air but the top were blowing hot it gave a nasty draught fricking cold in my bones, so luckly i found a mc donalds grabbed loads of knapkings took the centre vents out and stuffed them with the knapkings put the vents back in and job done.
    Happy days
