it seems that finding out info about audi transmission is pretty secret stuff!!
is there anyone on here that knows/works/plays with audi's???
i still havnt found out if the ends of the driveshafts knock off or have some kind of clip system
i now need to change the gearbox and diff oils but cant find out how much or what viscosity oils i need
iv tried forums, local garages and even rang audi but iv had no joy
is there anyone on here that can help???
i have a 1.8t 6-speed quattro
Cant remember specifically but i would of thought they would have a circlip. You could try the renault 5 method........ > Warm the gaiter up and slide it along a conical shaped thing. is difficult tho.
good shout mate, iv got a few sets of cones so i might get a spare boot and see if they strech!!
the car hasnt moved for months but im going to be using it for a while so need to sort it out!!
i rang audi today and got told the oils didnt have a viscosity but they could order me some
and they couldnt tell me if there are clips in the shafts but they could book it in
The CV must come off someway.. if you cant find a circlip then get the shaft in a vise and pull any slack out of the joint (as tho your pulling it off) and give it a good had hit on the inner side, you may find there is a circlip but hidden inside the joint..
Gearbox oil, you really cant go wrong with 75/90
Main dealers are pretty useless unless you know em. I tried to get part numbers for some brake flexis as i know i could get them a third of the price but the parts guy wasnt allowed to tell me the numbers, i could only order the parts. rant over. lol good luck with the boot stretching
Which dealer do you work for? just so i know when im stuck lol.
if ever you need any info on a renault just drop me a pm as iv worked for a renault main dealer for 10 years!
but im leaving in a month
shame its not to an audi dealer
iv been told that the gearbox oil i need is 75w90 which sounds right and that the diff uses the same oil, but only half a litre
as for the shafts im just gona attack them nxt weekend and see what i find
