getting my fueling correct (standard t2)

Ok , this is my first r5 and ive read up on the posts concerning fueling for these cars. My problem is ive no idea what the carb is currently set to at the moment, whether it is a grp A carb rebuild kit that was fitted before i brought the car? etc. I am all up for learning about the carb settings for the car etc, but wouldnt mind a hand the first time around so i can at least get a idea of hwo to go about it.

I am guessing that not everybody on these boards sets up their own carbs, and just wondeirng is it simply a tuning company job, or is there anybody on here that could much appreciated dj

Check out these two articles and if you understand anything, you can handle it. If not go to some good mechanic or closest RTOC member that is willing to help.

yea that makes sence, would you suggest that id be best to get my carb stripped down to begin with and have a look at what sizes the actual jets are at the moment, incase they have already been drilled etc.. reason i ask is at the moment when the car is reved to around 2k and let off on the spot it pops and bangs a lot.

also what boost should a standard t2 be running as i want to start from the bottom then work my way up, and also running a standard t2 at (the standard boost) , does anybody have any suggestions on what size main jet and a/c i should have

Standard boost from the top of my head is .65/.70 bar (10 psi)
If you're running standard boost, the standard carb jets are fine, i.e. 1.2 main jet, 1.25 a/c (and standard 1 mm 2nd stage jet)

Am i right in thinking, to work out if a jet in the carb is 1.0, then if a 1.0mm drill bit could fit through the jet, then that would mean its 1.0. Reason i ask is i am thining of stripping down my carb to see what jets are currently in it.

Well i measured up my jets and they are as follows.. 1.2 main, 1.3 ac , 1mm 1st stage 1mm second.. it appears that the air corrector is to large so would this cause the car to run lean on standard boost.
