looks great mate and an enjoying read
Lookin good bud, now I hope you intend to use ya car abit for what it was made for, B road blasting
im having same feeling lowered ect but not good on bumps
when you moved the brake pot did yout cut and shut the pipes? if so what hose did you use to join them back up? unsure if the brake fluids gonna eat away at cheap ebay hosing if i go that route..
its been a while but finally some progress.
yellow fogs now fitted and my clio williams carpet arrived to day. also made a start on retrimming the new seats
a few update pics. after a good clean the nite before wsr10
looks much better without the roof checks
you're obviously not having any problems keeping your engine bay clean
MAGNIFIQUE
tbh fella i dont think it gets used enough
a quick pic of tonight (not cleaned after the drive to and from silverstone).
only thing that is different is the new oil cap. personally i think its just finished off the engine bay
future plans now are respray, afr gauge, finish interior and poss some old skool renault wheels with slightly raised suspension
hears some more progress photos.
thanks to my brothers "barn find" (tungy gtt) i now have some old skool renault wheels. there in quite good condition but need a refurb as i managed to wash the paint off when cleaning the years of grime off them.
i really like it on them and it handles soo much better even on budget tyres
i fell it might want raising a little though?
I think it's sitting fine
you may find if you bring the rear up it will probably sit too high unless you put a bit of weight in the boot
awesome, looks good with those wheels.
Whats next?
How much better does that look now
I'd vote to raise 5-6mm.
looks good, more on the tungy find!
Get those borbets refurbed in silver i loved your car then, or if you are getting rid give me a shout
already got a new home... my cli-low dci
borbets now have a new home on my brothers black dci and they look awesome on it!!!
a small update on mine, ive finally fixed its starting issues and its all been down to a blocked jet in the carb (small brass tube at the top). replaced this and its first time every time now
ive also purchased a AEM UEGO wideband ARF gauge which i hope to be fitting very soon, then maybe i will finally be able to let it run 20psi again.
also it now has std mirrors fitted again and it all works alot better now with the old skool wheels.
more pics tomorrow
progress photos
afr gauge being fitted. this was taken at powerflow where my mate who runs it welded the lambda sensor into the downpipe for me
today afterwork i set about fitting my clio williams carpet for something abit different
before - old manky grey/yellow/brown ph1 carpet
carpet removed so thought i would take a look at the floor plan. its abit rough but still life in it yet before the welder needs to come out of hibeination (sp) again
after abit of modifing the williams carpet is in
and interior back together
im really happy with the result (altho abit rough round the edges lol)
next up tomorrow is to fit my new blue dials and finish wiring in my afr gauge
The carpet is a good touch, love your engine bay, the wheels look the part aswell
Carpet looks great
what do people think about a non badboy'd bonnet?
im not sure where its heading tbh lol. i really like the dub scene so tbh will prob end up sellin at some point to get something bigger and newer.
afr gauge and dials now fitted, another oil leak found from timing chain cover i think
will it ever end lol
ive tried to combine them on my 5. i could prob smooth the engine bay abit more but there is soo many pipes and hoses that its almost impossible to hide everything.
also the 5 isnt really a smooth looking car to start with and not alot can be done about that.
i also struggle finding wheels that suit it that are euro. borbets worked but 7.5x16 was just too big and suffered from alot of bump steer
think it could be somethin like a audi or vw estate next
new dials are in and fitted some blue led bulbs behind them
Looks good
I really like your 5 - one of my favourites!
Standard bonnet, wing mirrors, and Clio carpet - win, win, win!
Dials?.... um.
Some Raider seats would go great in there...
I do ike your car, i like the dials and the carpet looks so much better. I miss your borbets
Good work
i do miss the borbets but it got soo much bump steer you wouldnt believe. Been looking into some compomotive th mono's in 15x8" direct from compomotive but cant decide where i want this project to go now as the bits left to do are the mega money bits
The grey wheels in your first pics... do you still have them? If so, would you sell them? How much?
don't worry about changing wheels for now. save some cash up and get it blown over so it's all the same blue, once that's done you'll be happy again, know what you want to do with it and which direction to go.
sorry bric, i sold the williams wheel long ago.kinda wish i never did though lol
im thinking along the lines of 8x15" th mono's if i take the plunge and go for the respray
8" on the front ouch
james likes a challenge
these polished would look awesome.. all you have to do is make the car fit them
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RH-Toplines-7-...item230b4f31cc
17's would be abit on the big site. ive had 7.5x16's so im sure 8's all round shouldnt be a problem
no really much has happened as it still spends most of its life tucked up in the garage, but i have done abit of work on it.
im still having problems with cold starts so had another look into it.
found that the one-way valve on the breather side on the inlet manifold was loose and when i went to remove it it snapped off leaving part of it in the inlet
so i removed what was left and fitted a bolt and a washer into its place and rerouted the breather system to bypass this which helped
and whilst it was in bits i decided to fit the std headlights and some crystal indicators donated by my bro (the cream lights looked out of place with the rest soo std)
i also played about the the angle of the vains in the turbo and the preload as i wasnt able to bleed anymore then 2psi off ontop of actuator pressure, and refitted a 1.2 std main jet and drilled out the second stage to 1.2mm also.
the result is still yet to be fully found out as the weather was soo bad i didnt get to give it a propper drive, but all i can say is its not drivable in the snow lol. all it did was spin the wheels and pop the boost pipe off the top of the carb
and then the garage door shut again ..........................
i so want one if them devil braces on my renault 5 raider
cheers logg and modfather. it was at wsr10 but with the borbets etc.
the engine bay if by far the best part of the car. the bodywork looks soo sh*te in the metal. im still undecided to if im going to respray etc or not. im kind of loosing motivation lol
i know what you mean about losing motivation mate but try not to remember all the effort you put in now over the sh*t months will all be worth it when you roll the car out in the warmer months next year and all the meets that will take place as well mate
this is still one on my favourite 5's
