    water temp guage

    hi my cars been stood a few months and have come back to it now i have all the bits to finish it, started and the water temp guage wont work, but when the car came warm fan kicked in the guage started flickering and started working but few minutes later sat at the bottom again, anyone any ideas, is the temp sensor just on the rad? i have fitted a new ally rad but the guage was working after this.

    two wires loose to the left of the carb when facing the car from the front.

    The coolant temp sensor is on the waterpump mate, check the plug on that or may even be the sensor at fault

    As stated above, pull the 2 spade block connecter off and clean it ( assuming the original connecter is still in place)

    If the original connecter is gone and you just have two spade connecters, make sure you not which way round the two wires go before you pull them off to clean them
