How low can you go?...without running out of travel?

I've drop the front down pretty low on mine but find that I've only got about 2" of suspension travel.. with no bump stops so you can imagine the amount of times I hear my suspension crash.. has anyone got around this..maybe by raising the suspension turrets?

Sounds familiair since I have lowered mine on my Spax RSX I get fairly bad bump thump aswell (The thump felt if you hit a pothole) when you find out let me know .
I can imagine the response will be to raise the car.

edit - I have thought to resolve these impacts is with the shock rate by increasing the stiffness and thereby delaying or preventing the car from hitting the stops. I have started to make mine stiffer and to be honest it's not as bad as it was but it still needs some fettling with but it doesn't make it the most comfortable of ride.

Hopefully Andy Cooke or someone whom knows a fair bit about this things will post with some advices or PMT remedies

..I suppose I could get hold of some stiffer springs.. I wonder if some of those spherical bearings get rid of some of the padding near the shock top mounts therefore increasing the travel?

failing that I'll have to either cut and weld in an extra bit at the top of the strut towers (may need bonnet humps)

or raise the bottom shock mount to the hub again increasing the travel.. both a bit extreme..

Do any of these top mounts do away with the standard top mounts and bearings?

I run the Spax RSX to which I say are brilliant but don't allow you to go lower than a 60mm drop at the front.
Some pics on this thread of the Spax, AVO & GAz coilovers

Cheers matey I like the look also got my inspiration from Spooky at last years Nat Day and have been thinking about doing it for a while but been worried about the con's to doing it to.

I have no idea about the Gaz shocks but from visual appearance they do look like they go a little lower but it also depends on the length of the spring in use aswell as the Gaz springs look longer than the Spax. Unfortunatly you need to keep the adjusters in place as they keep the spring in place. Mine does sit very nice but not good over potholes I am going to try some much stronger springs out as I really don't want to have to get a custom set made up as I do like the Spax setup.

i have shorted my orginal dampers and put -6 cm springs on them. now i am running on VW golf MK1 dampers with FK topstruts and now i can go about 5 cm lower.

Haven't got a picture jet ( i smashed up my finger, mounting them)
