    No Spark

Right, got the head back on the car to find it won't start. No fuel reaching the carb.

Found a small fuse box containing two 30amp fuses by the aei/battery and it has 3 red wires coming out of it. 2 wires lead off through the dash but one wire is loose and not connected to anything. It looks like it has snapped off somewhere but I can't see where? Does anyone know where this is meant to go?

Have you checked voltage at the relay and also voltage at the fuel pump?

No, but before I get carried away, I'm going to let the battery fully charge over night

Ok it isn't the battery. Going to look over the other things. Any other suggestions?

Check the basic mate, TDC lead and the AEI unit relay.

Not too sure what those 2 fuses are your on about, there's not any fuses in the bulkhead as standard.

    What Mark said...

    Could be an alarm issue?

    Re: No Spark

Hmm, there is an immoboliser on the car. But when I changed the battery before that didn't affect it and in effect this is what has been done this time. Although was looking at another thread and some1 had to use a live from the battery direct to the relay or something to get it to start?

    Re: No Spark

Sorry i was just eliminating something saing no fuel at the carb.

There is no spark but the battery is fully charged. I guess I need to check voltage with a multimeter, need to get one tomo, unless garage across the road has one I can borrow. ahh so near, just want it back on the road now.

    Re: No Spark

Ah right ok. If you check the lives on the multiplugs in the aei and identify which isn't live (and should be) work back from there to what feeds it.

As already mentioned though it does sound like dodgy alarm/immobiliser problems.

    Unfortunately by disconnecting it.

To be honest mate you need to check the simple things first, is the TDC ok? Has it got power going to the AEI unit? Has AEI unit earth cable broke?
Have alook at these things first to eliminate them.

    Re: No Spark

Hmm if it is the immobilizer i'll have to see if previous owner had same problem.

Brett78, if you ever read this let me know...or if anyone has Brett or Jas's number could they pass it onto me?

What's best way to test the aei unit? Got the multimeter but don't wanna start tugging on things

Check that you have voltage across the -ve and +ve. I wouldnt use each of the pins, maybe put the black voltmeter wire too the battery and the red multimeter wire to the +ve on the AEI to check voltage and then do a continuity test from the -ve of the AEI to the ground of the battery or another good earth to check its not a broken earth somewhere.

    Cheers,

Hmm looks like there's no power getting to the AEI, hard to get the pin inside though maybe i'm not making a connection

    Re: No Spark

    UPDATE:

Got the car to start, was a loose connection on the starter motor.

Unfortunately the temperature still flys up meaning that I think I have cracked a liner Looks like the car isn't going anywhere for a while now then.

Anyone got a decent bottom end for sale
