another carb thread

where to start
ive been using the 5 daily now for 8 weeks and recently its been acting strange
basicaly its started to run very rich at tickover and on very light throttle
its going into the 10s afr
on occasion it will go into the 9s under throttle and cough and splutter
but this is rare
most of the time it idles in the 12s and will cut out

ive cleaned the idle jet and made sure the chock is full of ive set the afr to14/15s at idle but it quickly goes tits up and ends up where it was to start


the car idles @1000rpm is it possible that this is opening the 1st stage jet and causing the over fueling

im planing a carb overhaul soon but need to use the car for another 1/2weeks
any help appreciated

check that its not dripping fuel from the auxilliary venturi(discharge tube in middle)this would indicate a worn or sticky needle valve
