If there anything like the saxo raceland manifolds they wont be very good imo, the saxo manifolds are very thin.

    Re: cheap stainless manifolds!!!

the one on ebay looks exactly the same as the raceland one with stamped numbers, surely the manifold should make a difference in flow over an oe one. the one on ebay is made from t304 stainless is this thicker than the racelanD.we could probably get a discount on a group buy or rtoc discout!!

    Re: cheap stainless manifolds!!!

Actually been thinking about this & you really do get what you pay for usually & with stainless stuff it does tend to break if it's not braced or welded correctly......but if these are the same as K-tec then they have to be worth a pop @ £185, even if you do have to mod it or the inlet slightly...

"Raceland Stainless Steel 4-1 Manifolds are built with laser cut flanges, SS201 stainless steel and mainly utilise mandrel bends to optimise the flow."

    "ss201
a high strength material that permits a reduced weight design in many applications"

"If you are using stainless steel Type 304 in your products a lower cost and more cost-stable alternative is stainless steel 201.

Try googling it - or even better perhaps phone a sheet metal firm that can inform you of the grades of sheet material!

    Re: cheap stainless manifolds!!!

    just googles this on stainless:

    Stainless steel systems

The t304 and t409 are stainless steel production systems. The t304 system is more expensive because it is made to be more durable and it is a higher quality of stainless steel. The t304 system is generally used in equipment that requires more strength and durability like in cars and machines.
    Chromium content

The difference between t304 and t409 stainless steel lies in their chromium content. T304 has more chromium component than t409 at 18 to 20 percent. It also has a nickel content of 8 to 10 percent. The t409 only has chromium content of 10.50 to 11.75 percent. Its nickel content is only 0.50 percent. The t304 has so much chromium and nickel content and very little ferrous material that magnets will not stick to it.

also t304 has 18 to 20 percent chromanium and t409 between 10.5 and 11.7 so t304 is a far better grade a 201 grade is stronger than t304 but slightly less chromanium

but what are cgb and ktecs systems made from?? anyone know

I was always told the best grade of stainless for mainfolds and the like was 321 because it deals with heat better.

i may get one purely so its easier to fit my external wastegate, i can always get the welding strengthened and braced

I think it's not worth changing the standard manifold if you're going to be sticking with the std 25mm choke carb as this is the limiting factor (IMHO). There 'MAY' be gains in running one of these manifolds if you're going down the EFI route.

do they not help with the flow of the increased boost? if my car was on the road id have a power run with and without one. so is anyone interested in buying one???

You'd think wouldn't you, but tests over the years have always shown nill gain. As Woz says, there are much more important restrictions to worry about before you think about the exhaust manifold. And then, people go bolting exhaust-choking T2's onto them! Further making their recent shiney purchase a waste of money.

There was a thread the other day about these wasn't there ? I think it was TNT hammon saying that it didn't fit right, needed a lot of work, the flange being the wrong thickness so the inlet's needed machining down in order to clamp up, etc.

To be fair thats £190 of wasted cash There's lots of other things you could spend that cash on and gain much more hp

Raceland, K-Tec and CGB, all the same manifold.

Honestly mate with the advise taken above i wouldn't worry about getting one of these manifolds.

ok then youve won me over, just liked the thought of a nice shiny manifold and thought they must have made a good gain.what would you buy to get better gains??? i already have cam, headwork, port and polish,lb flywheel, double intercooler, oil cooler, ally rad etcc. what else gives power gains???

Going by the current qtr mile board, it seems to be all to do with the setup/fine tuning.

    Re: cheap stainless manifolds!!!

If you haven't got one, a decent exhaust will give you get up and go.

Minimum is a 2 1/4 rear exit such as the Mongoose. This will transform the car compared to the pea shooter standard exhaust. You could then also do the cup mod.

Not a Magnex unless it has the restrictor removed. Forget about Scorpion, whatever the bore the silencer is still very narrow.

To follow on from Marts suggestion, a decent actuator that doesn't open too soon, such as a Forge / Collins T3 style with a Forge -12 spring.

i have got a magnex with centre piece restrictor taken out, got a t25 on at the moment, i had a collins type actuator on but when i went on rolling road he said it was giving out too much boost and dont know where to get the internals as i dont know the make of actuator, im running cup mod but got standard actuator, ill get a new actuator bought. anything else worth buying??? thanks
