when i lift the clutch to engage to pull away either in first or reverse it judders just as its biting ive had a new valeo volvo clutch fitted but im running the standard clutch arm not soft pedal conversion on my f7p fitted in my 5 im just wondering if its cause its a stiffer clutch and the bite is either on or off when i had the volvo clutch fitted to my 5 with soft pedal it wasnt like that. what could be causing itthought it might be an engine mount maybe
I was convinced my valeo "volvo" clutch was slipping although it only juddered when pulling away. It turned out to be loose engine mounts
Tightened them up and no probs since. Definately worth checking them first.

give it complete death and get it warm. It might bed itself in.
had this on the wifes old 106 gti, it was the clutch fork, one of the legs had got bent so it was putting uneven pressure on one side of the release bearing. The fork is a different design to the R5 one so probably wont be that!

Subaru's suffer from this. It's worse when cold. The cure's are - skimmed flywheel, 5k rpm launch.
Mine isn't too bad at the moment
Check you haven't got any fluids somehow leaking onto the flywheel or clutch face.
i did use some cooling system flush the other day some might have spilt out and gone in where the tdc sensor goes i wonder
Take the car for a run out, good bit of slippage now & then, and that should clean it all up.
pour a can of coke down the tdc gap, and then go for a drive
make sure the rear engine mount is the right way round if you've removed it.
I know a clown that put it on the wrong way and it vibrated against the steering rack, the whole car juddered............... i am the clown !
Happens a lot on porches though mate, especially 924's!im yet to see one?? unless your on about the really early 924`s with VW lumps then ive only worked on 2 in my life? as for the rest 2.5 2.7 3.0 S2 and 68`s and turbos of all the front engined lot ive never seen one bent over the last 7-8 years of working on them or the 911 family infact??.. Which models had an issue out of interest matt?
Hey im no expert on these nor do i profess to known anything about them. Its all from memory from info i was told ages ago and it may even be the 948's? Any way my mates dad was well into them years ago, had a gold coloured thing. He was a club member and used to mumble on about clutch issues. It wasnt the the main arm part of the lever, but the forks that locate the release bearing. One would be a couple of mm out from the other. Other club members had the same issues. In the end if i remember correctly they had a batch of stainless arms made and the problem went away. I think (again i may be talking bollocks) the clutch was revised by porche (late 70's possibly?) and the cars never had that issue.
Arrr im guessing its a market ive never seen then,ive never worked on a 948, i guess same v8 lump as the 28`s etc?? but i dont even book them in to the workshop these days, tend to pass them on as there crap

well i changed the rear engine mount yesterday and its alot better now hardly any judder think it just needs a good drive to bed in. the old mount was squashed by at least 1cm at an angle and it looked as though it was pulling away from the metal you can only fit these one way by the looks of it
so i'm nut the only numpty then , woo hoo
