    Would it cause major problems.

My R5 is nearly ready for it's MOT test now. It is running a little lumpy, I keep adjusting the mixture as per the haines manual and have it as good as I can get it. it going through the rev range ok, just ticking over a little lumpy. I was going to insure it for the day to get to the Mot station and hopefully get a ticket on it. once MOT'd I was going to take it a garage who specialise with R5's to get it all set up. the MOT station is only a few miles away. Would anyone advise against driving it with a lumpy tick over. I don't wanna break it before getting to enjoy it.

Try giving the idle jet a good clear out. It's the large ish size brass screw on the offside of the carb. Unscrew that, separate the jet body from the screwhead (mind the 'torpedo' inside), give the jet holes a good clear out, in particular the hole at the end, reassemble (make sure that 'torpedo' is in situ), then screw back in place tightly.

Also check the jet o-ring is still intact as well.

Failing that, it shouldn't hurt driving the car that distance, although the MOT operator might complain if he can't get a stable emissions reading.
