Jim going to try to get some photos for you tomorrow, shout if you need any any of anything else.
Great work again Jimmy, i must pop round and have a look at all the hardwork pal.
Sometimes the R5 really pisses me off and I wonder why I started doing this project.
The parts overhaul seems never ending.
Anyway a little progress over past week. Painted hubs and driveshafts. Also overhauled steering rack and fitted new gaitors. Big thanks to Thundercat for getting track rod ends off.
Also had spare took off the tyre ready to go to powder coaters - subframe and a few other parts will be off there as well.
Cleaned up tanks ready for refitting.
Also prepped my first lot of parts to be zinc plated.
Photos for anyone interested in the slow progress!
I see it as a big jigsaw get your corners then work Inward and when it's completed you have a cracking picture.. It will all come together in the end..
Looking good Jimmy, stick with it pal.
You need to keep me updated how the diy zinc plating goes.
Little Progress yesterday
Cleaned and prepped all inner wings and then refitted front wings after a bit of bonnet alignment everything is all good.
Also got a front windscreen inner seal - new old stock. So should be able to have a complete OE seal for the windscreen.
Few pics for anyone interested.
Where did you get the drivers side front wing from? I've been trying to get one with no luck.
See, that's a picture of a washer and I'm sitting here wondering where it goes and wishing I had it
Lots of people want to see pictures of all the little details, it's just that not everybody posts up to say so
This is a great project and one of the bigger ones on RTOC atm. It's great watching the progress
Seeing your thread James makes me want to start mine up again. Wouldn't even know where to begin now but your thread is great and so it the parts collection.
Those new parts were a bargain; especially the wings.
Jimmy, can you post the part number and brief description of what the part is mate, really difficult to tell from the photo thanks mate.
Oh and great work as always
Do new stock renault 5 front wings not have the side indicator holes then? Are you going to cut them James or leave them without side indicators?
Nice to know people like the thread will keep you all updated. A few more parts should arrive this week. Really need to get car off for paint.
I like the fact that you made a cup of tea to sit down and enjoy the new parts.
Glad they arrived safe
Great work mate, many new mint parts allover the house, love the front subframe in the front room, your Mrs must be very understanding!
Looking great!
Looks awesome!
Love the rear badge on that black 5 in the garage
Powder coaters done an epic job again, sorted my ph1 rims in the past and all underside parts ready for my ph1.
Sneak pic of my valver ph1 with its new badge of eBay.
Erm those lights don't look very oe.. What wheels you going for? I think euro style would be mint like djs but you'd be the silver king
Keep trooping on bud coming on nicely
Looking great! Are the plating company doing any prep work on the brackets to remove any pitting or anything?
If you need someone to look after them bumper strips let me know. lol
Silver, lowered on silver/polished turbines?
looking good loving all these morrettes coming back out on 5's
Cheers, am hoping to make abit more progress these coming months before winter sets in.
Yes will be silver turbines on a lowered 30mm stance.
I need to speak to plating company but I've prepped alot of the brackets myself to remove pitting and rust. Have a box of bolts and nuts I'm going to take also. Have been told price is based on weight and reckon I've got 15kg of stuff to goto platers.
You've got to love morettes - although getting decent condition ones is very very hard. If I get chance at weekend will mock front up with morettes on.
Did you mark up the suspension tops for near-side and off-side before you painted them?
Little progress this weekend
All brackets have gone to zinc platers.
So in preparation to getting front end sorted I decided to underseal both front arches and then under seal up to the handbrake mechanism - will do rest of car when rear beam is off.
Also mocked front with Morettes on. Really happy how that all looks, cleaned up fuel pumps and fuel pipes and finally refurbished handbrake as it was a tad rusty.
Few pics as always
