    220 Gsi T

Picked up another car that i've always wanted the other day as i've had enough of non-turbo power
Rover 220 Gsi, needs a little TLC but overall not a bad motor. Will prob end up on a bigger turbo soon & management next year but 1st port of call as always with my cars is suspension

funnily enough i had one of these too....

it was lowered, but was quite bouncy. it also had a straight through 3 inch exhaust, which was too noisy.
worst of all, the 3 inch down pipe kept catching things and it ended up pulling the top two manifold studs out of the head.

Yes same T16 turbo engine as the coupe or tomcat as they get called.
197bhp as standard, can take about 12-14psi before they start to let go around the ringlands, but this can differ from car to car (sound familiar ), my brother was running 18psi when he bent a rod on his a few years back, bolt on a better intercooler or move the badly placed standard one (sits above the rad & close to the ex manifold) fit a pulsar or s14 turbo & they can hit about 230-240 pretty easily.

I had a coupe a few years back running on DTA, cams, GT28R, exhaust etc. & it made 260bhp & 262lbft @ 13psi @ track & road, with the quaiffe diff it was an animal

Yeah I think it depends on what suspension you go for, koni's are pretty good on them, the g-max are a bit

Koni yellows with Jamex springs enroute as well as a new fuel tank as mine was pourus & leaking with more than 1/4 of a tank in

The list over the next few months is :
    ZS180 brakes (282mm)
    Bigger intercooler
    Bigger turbo
Get the couple of scratches sorted
Also may have sourced some 17" superleggeras

This is how it looks today after trying to get the rear koni's on & finding the bolts had rusted to the inside of the bushes & since I've sold the wheels.. still got some 17" superleggera's to put on & after selling the other wheels they cost me £100

Just waiting for the new rims, trailing arm bushes & poly rear bushes, then it's cut the old suspension off & burn/knock/cut the remains out..lol... fit rear koni's, bushes & rims & off I go..

Small update as this is how she looks now.... Really enjoying driving it, turned the boost up to 12 psi now & she does feel pokey, the torson diff takes some getting used to in the corners though

Just need to get the rear ARB welded up & the front poly kit on & it should handle like a dream as well.

I actually wish i'd put one of those engines in my old Rover 416 Touring, like so many people suggested. That would have been rather ho-larious.
