Just got a set of some 13" steelies off a mates mk1 golf, stuck two off them on to see if it would be driveable, snapped a wheel bolt, doh! And it rubs on the rear arch, but looks rather sweet I think, so will be doing some trimming to get them on properly, oh and taking the front leg off to get this bolt out!
Any other low r9's out there, any advice on how to trim/roll the arch?

them wheels will be wrong offset ,plus wrong center bore as well .
no wonder you snapped a wheel bolt
if you look at the rear arches there is a lip around 10-15mm long this can be
rolled in to get some more clearence .

centre bore is correct(well looks near as damnit, not measured them), not sure about offset, and i broke the wheel bolt taking off my old wheels, which are the wrong centre bore, the front had a reducer ring thing, but the back didnt!
center bore for a vw mk1 is 57.1 where as your 9 will have 60.1
if them wheels fit on your car than they are not of a golf
offset looks way out from the pictures (front wheel sits out of the wing )
either way bring it to the nat day
the wheels had like a metal centrecap that fitted from the inside, in essence reducing the size of the centrebore, in the pics ive just balanced two black spray cans lids on to give the same look haha
I might fit them onto my r5 just for a picture but selling the r5gtt so they wont be staying on it for long.
They just catch on the rear on the r9 so hoping abit of trimming will get in rub free, but will have problems driving it over speed humps ect as it rather low at the back, looks win over praticality this time.
well fitted the front shocks i bought of a member on here, whilst at it thought, hmmm wonder if r5 gtt brakes are the same, yup they are so on went the grooved discs and trackday pads i had got for my r5.
And had some camber correction bolts for my 5 knocking abit, so slapped them in so can adjust front camber now.
Rolled one rear arch, not rubbing just needs a slight tidy up, then one more wheel to go on, i did sone ghetto arch rolling using a bit of scaffold pole......
Front needs to go lower tho i think so might try and make some front coliovers.
And now eyeing up the cage i got for my 5, i'm sure with some cutting i can get it to fit!
wheels are on, no rubbing, but need new rear discs as one is now warped..... anyway... with some kicking the rear cage went in, and ive cut the front part in half so that will fit, so bit of welding making some mounting plates, and some tubing to join the front cage together and thats it pretty much ready for the track!
But it deffo needs to be dropped another couple of inches at the front
cracking job....like it.....and liking BLACK too much....
mine is still on 14"......and has 185 tyres,,,,no rubbing, even on track..
i found out 185/55/14s are good .
can get easily get 3 fat chicks in the back seat with no rubbage
Any tips how to build a set of coilovers, and the cheapest place to get the bits?

that would be megane and non 16v 19 for the front . rear shocks
from these cars would need a little modificiation to fit .
the rear on mines all good since i fitted the new gas shocks just want to stiffen up the front end as it wallows about in the bends

i'll get pics up of a 9 up here thats pretty low, needs a rebuild but its about 80mm down iirc
