    Re: efi engine makeover

with the bad weather here i thought i best make a start improveing my gtt.so first off i pulled the toyota engine out.while its out im going to get the bay sprayed, get it looking fresh

also im waiting for some new coilovers and some 8" 320lb springs(which were recommended by gaz) so while the shocks where off thought i would give the hubs a good wirebrushing/degrease and then paint with hammerite, and clean everything else i can get to.still need to do the inner arches even though they look pretty good from the last time they were done

and heres the old 4efte which is going to be replaced with a 5eftewill get some pics up when its collected

so all in all,im going to be very busy over the next few cold/wet months

There is a Toyota Starlet Glanzia that competes in my class at some of the NW speed events.

At Barbon Hill climb it was awsome and ran seriously quick times then they seem to have problems with it at other venues with too much lag and brake issues.

some more progressits nearly finished, well apart from mapping.just need to sort a bracket out for the throttle cable.and sort the cam cover out.also found out the 5e head has alot more meat on it so i cant use my devil strut brace,as it catches the throttle bodybut i will sort that at a later date

also give her a clean today as i was a bit bored

It's a hybrid td04 and I'm hopeing to run 1.3-1.4bar,to be fair I think the turbo is a tad to small,I really could do with a tdo5 16g but that will have to come at a later date.

It's a civic radiator matt,it's a popular mod on starlets/glanzas when fitting aftermarket exhaust manifolds.and they never have issues with cooling.it's almost identical size to a r5 gtt rad

Another update, after my clutch pedal and cable failing due to my new uprated clutch, scoff recommended a hydraulic clutch setup,so after gathering all the parts and getting a mate to mod the standard clutch pedal.it is now fully working, and the pedal feels great although fairly heavy
I will get some pics up later

Still a few little jobs to do and then hopefully I can make frog of pod

Really nice work Tubs. I know that a lot of people say that the C1J is part of the GTT character but, I think a modern engine is all that is needed to take the GTT to the next level, plus the fact that you probably get a better gearbox thrown in the deal too!

It wasn't as expensive as you think, really can't remember, but I also had a lot of parts from my previous setup(adaptronic, chargecooler, fuel related parts etc) I reckon it cost me around grand, and that was for the engine/gearbox and other bits and fitting of the engine,a mate did the welding/fabrication(mates rates of course)

There was quite a lot to modify, both chassis legs had to be taken in a bit, front cross member cut and extended forwards, driveshafts cut n shut, engine mounts made up etc.would I go down this route again if I had another gtt- hell yeah, there is much tuning potential for the little 4efte,and it made it unique
