    Re: clutch

How many more times d'you want to duplicate this same thread?

It will only fit one way so that the clutch material is flush to the flywheel/take-up springs are facing outside.

    Re: clutch

im pretty sure this is the first thread ive started on it.. as ive just had a search through threads started by me. sorry if its not

ive put the turbo clutch up against the flywheel and put the cover plate against it aswell and it doesnt look like the cover plate will bolt up to the flywheel. can anyone confirm this?

might change the flywheel to the gt one but it might be a bit hard to unbolt the flywheel with the gearbox still in the bay.

so might just buy a clutch for it.

and thanks for the pic. confirmed what i was going to do.

anyone got any idea wheres cheapest for the n/a clutch. will get searching me self.

    cheers

    Re: clutch

The campus has a 180mm clutch, the gt-turbo's 200mm will not bolt up, you will need a matching 200mm flywheel like the gt-turbo's.

in situ, like bolted to the engine ? I can only assume you don't mean that. Maybe you mean with the gearbox in the engine bay ? yes, but expect to loose some knuckle skin!

yea box is unbolted but in the bay.

yeah thats what i was thinking. im quite good at doing that allready. and i can see that being 10x worse.

but i suppouse it will be saving me £50 quid so could be worth it lol. cheers

    Re: clutch

ive managed to change the flywheel on the engine on the campus to my turbo flywheel today without even scraping the skin of my hands lol.

i then tried to bolt up the cover plate with the clutch in situ, and i think i tried to do it up to tight. as now the bolts are doing up but then when you think youre on the last turn of the thread the bolt goes loose again.

i was trying to get the cover plate to go tight to the flywheel. but im not sure if its suppoused to do so, could anyone confirm this?

it looks like the clutch plate has a slight gap from the flywheel on my gt turbo.

how can i now go about getting some bolts to go tight into the flywheel? any help would be much appreciated as ive spent agers on this today.

    thanks alot

    Re: clutch

Sounds like the bolts you're using are too small, Are they from the campus?? You'll need some GT Turbo clutch bolts. High tensile M8 cap heads.

The cover should be Tight against the flywheel, have you got the clutch plate in the right way, Hub outwards?

Did you also threadlock the flywheel bolts? Just bear in mind that if any rotating part of the clutch/fly assembly is even slightly loose it could come off at high revs and destroy the car and even kill someone.

i havent but i will be doing so. and should i use it on the cover plate bolts?

    Re: clutch

Alright mate. I meant Metric 8mm cap head bolts. Sure that's what the GTT has.

Just threadlock the flywheel to crank bolts

    Re: clutch

Not sure. Part number from Renault is 7703009169 about 40p Each and the washers for them are part number 7903053042 and are about 47p each. Robbery.

According to Dialogys, sure enough, the campus bolts are only 7mm so no wonder they were loose.

    Re: clutch

I bought some not that long ago from Renault and they are Zinc plated, I wouldn't bother using old or bolts I have found in my shed for the sake of a a few £'s I would get new matey.
