Are you losing water from the coolant system?
Are you using oil?
Regardless of what the answer to those 2 questions is do a compression test and go from there

Is there any white sludge in the top of the oil filler cap or on the dip stick when you remove it? Agree get the compression tester out!

plus if your burning water your tempriture guage is gonna be hitting the limiter pretty quickly
Take it back to the testing station or any testing station,take the header tank cap off & ask them to put the c/o reader above it to see if it picks up a reading.

I had the same problem and in the end after changing the head gasket three times we found out that it was a cracked cylinder head.
Right took it out yesterday to see if the problem had gone after setting it up on the co2 machine and the smoke went briefly then there was a wall of smoke behind the car and it cut out.
After towing it back to the garage we started it again and water/coolant came out the exhaust so we suspected head gasket so off came the head but the gasket was intact.
What was not intact was a huge crack on piston 3's liner and cracks between the valve ports on the head to so new engine it is lol
Anyone know of one for sale asap?
Valve ports is normal, mine had cracks from inlet to exhaust, as long as they aren't massive & only across the top don't worry.
Buy some new liners or P&L & job done.
CGB sells liners on their own as well
i have and engine and box for sale if all else fails bud
a new engine? why? change the liner and get the head pressure tested.
as mentioned cracks between the valves are very common and dont usually cause any probs.
How much is a new liner going to cost me and where do I get it from?
Would this explain the smoke that was coming out of the exhaust all the time?
