no answer can be given without saying what spec you aim to achieve, and even then its guesswork without a AFR.
Plus i've been looking around and it seems only ktec sell jets....Or am i not looking good enough??
Hey mate... 180BHP isn't that easy... if you look at my car's specs on my profile you can see all the mods I did and I run 165BHP/220NM on the rolling road @ 20psi with my T2-T25 hybrid. I recently put in a gp A carb, just to test it AFR-wise... and it suited my car just fine without modifications. On my other std carb, I changed the a/c jet to 0.9mm and drilled the 2nd stage to 1.2mm. That's it!
Southern carbs will supply jets if you need them.
Why don't you buy some micro drill bits & do yours as necessary
how about these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/20pc-MICRO-HSS...3A1%7C294%3A50
This thread should be moved from the Technical Discussion board to somewhere more appropriate for the content
dealers still sell the jets...most tuning specialists can order them into stock, ....
or,,,you drill, solder and grow your own
oo im intrested
if i want a 1.2mm 2nd stage, as said by jantheeven, what size would a standard jet be?
i really want to find out what this carb is running as it fuels loads, and i belive has hesitation before boost due to this, mpg 16/18mpg on a good day, that cant be right for a "standard" carb or can they get that bad if say the mixture screw is wrong?
what is the base mark like when on bike cabrs itll say something like" turn in to stop. 1 1/2 turns out"
2nd stage is non removable unless you fanct drilling it out and tapping an a/c jet in it's place but if you go wrong it's a new carb body you will need. The standard 2nd stage size is 1.0.
Don't fettle without and afr gauge though matey.
oh i understand that, tho whats the easiest way of finding out if its over fueling, or whats the best wy to check the jets? is it part on the o/s of the carb that contains the jets?, the a/c jet which i pursume sits under the carb top wont come out!
Easiest way to find out is taking it down to an MOT station and stick and emissons tester on it or buy and AFR gauge / setup i.e. LM-1 so you can see what it is doing through the gears and through the rev's.
The a/c jet as you say sits just under the carb top it is just small flat head screw driver type and just simply unscrews.
When you get your micro drill bits, you can try different sizes in your main jet and air corrector and see if they are standard. If you put a 1.2 drill bit into the main jet you would hope it would be pretty tight if it's loose then its been enlarged
Ok my micro drill bits are on the way......I'm gonna take the jets out of one of my spare carbs and see whats what and have a little fettle!!! If all else fails southern carbs or ktec here i come
