    hahaha u tell em mark,

Main reason you shouldn't is because 1, your car isnt even mapped and no one likes a muppet ragging an unmapped car and 2, you come across like a muppet, which in alll honesty although you do have your moments you are actually a genuinely nice guy, which is the best you will ever hear me say about you :P. Re: Turbo Toaster

Yikes talk about taking things out of context

My post about the GTO race was not trying to show off, I just trying to point out how impressed I'am with what the F7R can do, I knew from the passenger ride Coops kindly gave me at national day in his clio 1.8turbo that it was going to be good, I just didn't realise how good, I won't say how much of a better engine than the C1J because A) the C1J has some very good points about it and B) people will slate me for saying it (namely Ross )

Sorry if people have started to dislike my project thread over this, I didn't mean to upset anyone or start any arguements (except with Ross )

Seriously though I'm not tring to show off or go all ricer, was just trying to show that the F7R, even the sometimes called lesser Megane F7R engine is actually a really good base to start with.

Normal braking of parts and nailing bits on to the car service will resume shortly.

Oh yeah one more thing................ Ross, whats this about me being actually a genuinely nice guy?

Have you been hit over the head or somit lol

Seriously though fella, roll on Blyton Park, can't wait to see how your 5 and mine stack up

While the car was reciving new sills I had a proper down pipe made up and while they were at I figured it was a good time to replace the knackered silencer

    Old V New

As for the down pipe, well I think I'll let the pics speak for themselves

    Re: Turbo Toaster

One more thing, been spending some money on new brakes, last month I replaced the rear calipers, pads and hand brake cables and after abit of adjusting they sailed through the MOT with no problem, unfortunatly they now show up how bad the front brakes are, the brake dyno showed the the fronts were well down compared to the newly fixed rears so something had to been done.

A few quid later and I have a pair of these sat on my dinning room table

HAndy kindly provided the mounting brakets, all I have to do is get a couple of thread adaptors to convert the GTT flexi lines from M10x1mm to the 1/8npt to suit the calipers.

Ah ok, I went for the smallest size I could get as just two of the pistons added up to more than the stock calipers, if you go to big your master cylinder won't keep up, ask MarkyB about the trouble he had

Bollox, just pulled the old front calipers off to fit the new 4 pots but because of the side entry into the calipers for the brake lines when you turn full lock let's say left the flexi pipe touches the drive shaft guess I need to find some m10 90 degree unions, any ideas where?

Just had a look, no fittings on their site, an email i think to see if they do have something, rather not have to change the flexi lines though

Yay, 4 pots are on, thanks to HAndy for lending a hand to bleed them up.

I gotta say they work really well, ok they need more bedding in but the result so far is brilliant, so much that I had a thought as my head bounced off the steering wheel, "damn, knew I shoulda tightened up the harnesses more"

With just 2 hours till its due for mapping I just had to change the alt as it was playing up thanks to JP for lending me his alt for the day, now it's a case of finding out what went wrong with it and the fact that it's a 110a job not the normal 70a, anyone know if keeping the 110a job would put too much strain on the wiring? I hope it don't but I think it probably is

    Well here's the dyno result

    At 7psi 211.4bhp and 203ft lb

    At 11psi 234bhp and 247ft lb

Unfortunately the actuator wasn't holding anymore boost but even if it did I dout it'd blow anything other than hot air, so next year when funds allow a new tubby is order

Your alternator will put out as much as is required from it upto 110A, it does not pump out 110A all the time. Look at it as an MCB rating you fool. MCBs operate (generally) know where near their capacity - the alternator does the same. Jp's alternator will be perfect for when you go full Barry Boy and put some Ice in.

Cheers bud, goes like hell even on the 7psi setting, power is instant and just pulls all the way to the peak.

Needs some track time for proper testing

you can see the efficiency dropping off, from the 7psi run you can calculate 142hp and 137ft lb na, so at 11psi you should be getting nearer to 250hp and 241ft lb - looks like you weren't at exactly 7 and 11psi at both peak torque and power?

Good eye fella, it was more like 6.8 psi and 10.4psi and because the small turn power dropped off very early, I'll get off my arse at some point and upload the dyno print outs

    Re: Turbo Toaster

Haven't done much to the 5 since I go it mapped except for drive it that was until the clutch let go, release bearing disintergrated and the centre splines of the friction plate stripped.

So while it's all apart I've taken the chance to sort a few bits.

Get the ecu software upgraded the trigger pattern of the clio 172 flywheel as I have a lightened and balanced job.

Reseal the sump, cam carriers and cam cover.

Replace 1 way valve to brake servo.

Change turbo rear housing from .49 to .64 and fit stronger actuator.

    Re: Turbo Toaster

Well I've already resealed the sump, sent the ecu for the upgrade and changed the rear housing on the turbo, just waitin to get the new clutch and the ecu back before I can do anymore but hopefully it'll be back together by Monday next.

You know you want another 5 so just go get 1

What was the ECU upgrade for oli ? You know you can grind the extra tooth out of the 172 wheel to turn it in to bosch 60-2 ?

I did that with the megane flywheel but Emerald wrote an upgrade for HAndy's ecu so it'd read the stock trigger pattern so you don't half to and as its costing me nothing other than a little time I'm going with that option instead of the grief of having break out the grinding bits in the cold.

    Re: Turbo Toaster

Been too long since I last updated this so there's quite abit to do.

First off I broke the car in December on the way home from a mates, the damage, knackered clutch plate, knackered clutch bearing, knackered driveshaft and as the weather has been so cold I'm only know getting on with fixing it but in the meantime I've been collecting parts.

    Gaz rear dampers
    Forge adjustable actuator
    Rose jointed top mounts
    Larger boost pipes
    Uprated engine mounts (Logg versions)
    JC5 Gearbox
    Plus a few other bits.
