Bizzarely i have the same wheels recently blasted mate How rough is the finish you have after blasting? Mine are fairly rough as done on the cheap down a local dock yard.
Plan is to use etch primer on the bare metal, then a few coats of high build filler primer, a light sand then top coat in 2k paint, or you can use water based/cellulose colour and finish in laquer if you prefer.
Ok, that's the right way to do them...
what's the technique using aerosols?
High build primer them, then flat it back using wet and dry, then paint
im just doing some 16valver turbine wheels at the min.
been stripped back to bare metal.
rubbed them down with 400.
coat of etch primer.
wet sanded with 600.
another coat of primer.
wet sanded with 600 again then 2k paint. i got a nice finish
I refurb them similiar, 180 sand the scuffs, use some liquid alloy for filling the imperfections with a blade or business card to spread flat, sand back with 180 then 320, scothbrite whole wheel with prep and blend, degrease/ clean the wheels , dust of etch primer, then on with the high build primer, and 1000 aberlon or wet and dry paper, more primer if necessary then paint, I'm still using solvent on wheels and some nice upol laquer for the shine.
