    172 cup gearbox on a C1J

    Now then chaps, just after some advice for a mate. He's after fitting a 172 box to his C1J engine which I know will bolt straight on. Just wondering what the best flywheel, clutch and starter combinations would be?

    Just not sure if you can only use the C1J fly? or if you can go for a 172 or Volvo setup?

    everything C1J, you need to use the dowels off the C1J gearbox.

    he's stuck with the c1j flywheel ashy, the F crank pattern is different to the C pattern. even if the F type flywheel fitted he'd only be able to use the Clio 16v @ 200mm, since he'd need the renix pattern to trigger the AEI. The 172, volvo, etc is 60-2.

    Afaik or even remember marrow, the gt crank is different. The flywheel bolt pattern is different and not interchangeable. He will have to use gt fly, volvo 480 pressure plate and a 200mm paddle. Not sure if you could mod the 215mm volvo cover to the gt flywheel.
