Speedo not working but trip/odometer are.
Could this be the connection by the air filter box or is it the speedohead.

if the odometer is working, it means you are getting some sort of signal at the dials end of the speedo. - id say its an earthing issue behind the clocks or the windings that power the needle need attention...

My speedo always seems to read about 30-40mph out, what would you put this down to, fecked sensor or the speedo its self? Sorry for the hi-jack

    Thanks for the quick answer.
The speedo has worked a couple of times on different trips but then stops, does this cancel out the windings theory.
I have the instrument panel out and can not see any earthing screw, any idea of location.

Worth checking the solder joints on the speedo cluster, connector and the strips on the cluster for the connector. Again, if the odometer is working it could be the case that some of the joints are dry and have broken, i've had this happen before.

The needle's slipped on the spindle.
Pull it off, move it round a bit and push it back on. It will take some trial and error to get it in the right place- best way I found was to remove the clear plastic fascia from the instrument panel and drive back and forth down a mile or so of quiet, straight road so you can compare the speed with a GPS or by using the rpm/gear/tyre tables.
