    Air Compressor Rental?

I dont suppose anybody has a Air Compressor i can borrow/rent?

Or do you know of any companies i can rent from? I am looking to do a basic/cheap respray of my cup car in my garage. I am not expecting/wanting perfect paint job or anything of the kind.

Just want my cup car to look clean, and in a fresh coat of paint as the current paintwork looks like stevie wonder did it with half empty spray cans!

Also does anybody have advise, contacts for me to purchase paint, pimer thinners etc...

All help & info is gratefully recieved.

    Re: Air Compressor Rental?

Just a little info on paint for you as i've bought some in the last month.

Some companies are not selling 2k/acrylic paint for car use post Jan 09. However I did find my local supplier will be carrying on until July time ish.

To be honest I would source locally, I bought some paint off ebay that was so far out of colour that I sent it back. Although you need a special courier as its a hazedouz material.

Compressor wise, I do have one but its brand spanking new at the moment. If your looking to paint later than sooner and cant find anything let me know. I have some work for it right now though.

Aii, the local Aldi up here still has them in stock/on display - 80 odd quid for the compressor, a couple of rolls of hosing, and a few attachments.

You do get a spray gun with it but make sure you get the regulator/filter which is sold separately(£20). Shackal has used the same one for his car and seems happy with it.

It might still be on Aldi's website, but not so sure it's still a current offer?

As I say though, there's still stock of them in the branch up here, so possibly could be in your local Aldi as well.

it doesn't make enough air for spraying, to spray you need a good compressor, and good compressors cost good money. That wee thing struggles to blow up tyres.

A mate of mine has a compressor to the same spec as the Aldi one and it ran out of air just painting a bumper!

dont forget to get inline filters as those compressors take in water as well as air and you dont want to spray water out with your paint.

    Re: Air Compressor Rental?

a spray gun uses alot of air and if the compression is up and down it makes it hard to set up a gun to get a decent spray job.

little tiny radiator roller you want and some gloss.
did a renault 5 this way a few years ago came up really well and every 1 wanted 2 buy it couldnt tell it was done with a roller unless u stood really really close.
    a cheaper way than spraying

Its seriously good mate! just dont apply it too thick!
You buy the tool that collects any water/moisture? it goes in-line
    (between gun - compressor)

If you can penfold get this!! its pure quality!

I bought this Sealey one http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilde...motionID=53902
and does an excellent job and in there Spring promotion still, but i did go to Aldi the other Sunday and buy most of there air tools they had and they all came with a 3 year warranty so they cant be that bad. Not had chance to use them yet but for the price cant be bad.

    haha very true tho mate!!

    you need like a 100ltr+ / 2.5hp + to do a full car mate.
a little compressor aint really no good.

machine mart is probs yoru best bet? or another tool hire shop near you?

and try and go for 2k paint if you can.. better finish than the water base there using now.
just try and find someone who stil does it!

Right i am collecting a worling decent 2nd hand 200litre air compressor froma spray shop that is closing down for a good price.

now what i was thinking is, where to paint... i am tempted to purchase a 6m x3m all enclosed gazebo & make a plastic floor so seal it all up and drive the car in there to work on, would that be ok?

Dont suppose anybody has a infa red heater they want to lend me... would lower the drying time on the car + better paint finish.

You can buy different types of activator or could in the days of 2k which I can still buy.
I buy extra fast activator so that it goes off quicker and thus dries quicker and less chance of dust.
As long as its dust free and not damp i.e. relatively warm I have had pretty good results. Gazebo should be ok with decent mask and little wind! Make a plan of attack before you start and go through the motions before you spray so you are cool as a cucumber

I must admit i was tempted to get hold of some 2k, i know a few people who can get it.

I have heard of the fast activator, will look into it more.

As for the gazebo it will be sheltered by my parents house and next door neighbours so providing the wind aint strong it should remain wind & dust free.

I was planning on painting in June/July time so it should be damp free and warmer...

Anyone recommend where to get paints to go with that spray kit from ALDI?

I bought one as well, and would love to try my hand spraying an old bumper or bonnet just to see how hard it is, but ain't got a clue what paints to get or where to get them from.
