Koni's are available for the 11t. Prima have a pair of front koni's on ebay at the moment. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-11-TUR...3A1|240%3A1318

Could probably pick up a set of springs nos from somewhere. If stuck get a set made up custom, shouldn't cost too much.

I bought some Spax springs from Tweeks but...erm...they didn't really lower the car at all!

Re: Where to buy lowering springs?

I used Megane springs mk1 springs on my old 11 (any model except the 2.0l version as the struts are different) and they lowered the car nicely. Only issue is, they'll fail an MOT as they're not compressed enough with no weight on the wheels/strut.

I was half-way through investigating the possibilities of using megane shocks, and as far as i got, it looked like they're exactly the same which, if is the case, 11 turbo owners could use megane coilovers if they wish... again, only Megane models that arent the 2.0l model.

Here's a thought... Sparkie may be able to get access to an 11 shock and a Megane shock to do a final comparison.

    That would be awesome ...

So...all are same in Megane (also rear shock absorbers without modifications?)?

Re: Where to buy lowering springs?

Chris, im pretty sure 'insecure' springs are a failure... they need to seat properly in the struts or there's risk of them coming loose. I didnt deem it an issue as there wasnt much play at all and I wasnt planning to go rallying over short bridges etc

Theros, cant comment on the rear shocks as I was only looking into it for lowering puerposes, I was happy with the way the back handled lowered slightly on the torsion bar.
As for the fronts, as far as im aware there's only two sorts on the mk1 Megan,

    1) 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 etc
    2) 2.0

Re: Where to buy lowering springs?

Oh, and the top mounts are different... I never fully looked into it, but it looked like the top mounts from an 11 would fit the Megane shocks.

Another thing (jesus, old age, my memory is shot).

R11 turbo shocks are different to 5's etc because the load bearing isnt at the top of the shock.

theros ,get the megane lowering springs mate there will be
about 20mm slack in the spring mounts without the weight
of the car on them . find a machine shop and get the piston rods
    on your shock shortened accordingly

Thanks. I found a place where I can do that. So they shorten 20mm shock absorber and add 20mm thread as well, right?

Then I can use lowering springs?

thats right , however check the slack between the spring and the top mount
first before you decide to get the rod shortened ,it may be more or less than
20 mm depending on spring manufacturer .

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

I used 5 turbo shocks from AVO and fitted 5 top mounts also. didnt evffect the camber angle either as tyre wear has been fine and they have been fitted for years.
