There were 4 new uniroyals on French eBay the other week. Dont believe they sold. Think they were about 500 euros shipped to the UK which I thought was pretty good. Have a search on various European eBay sites. Something may turn up.

    Re: Tyres!!

Very few in that size now. Most opt for 185/55/13 or 185/60/13 both readily available and cheap.

The problem with new old stock tyres is that the rubber degrades and would be dangerous to use on the road.

    Nankang

    Re: Tyres!!

Forget anything 195/55/13 these days, if you can find they'll be old stock and rubbish. If you want to retain the standard sized wheels go for 185/60/13 - loads of tyres available and at a reasonable price. Or go for 15's which have a fair amount available in 195/50/15 (not the preferred size) not so many available in 19/45/15.

I run 185/60/13 Nangang NS2R on my cup wheels.

    Re: Tyres!!

Changing mine back to standard wheels; it has always had none standard since I've had it so dont know what to expect.

So 185 / 60 / 13 are ok then? Any experiences and how much can I expect to pay.

Will most tyre places have these / order them in do you think?

    Re: Tyres!!

Are these suitable for everyday? They look to be marketed as a track tyre, also look to be double the price compared to the NS-2 Ultra Sport; are they a lot better?

    Re: Tyres!!

They are track day tyres but I use my car on the road aswell and find them good, they're a B wet rating I think. They are more expensive than a non track day tyre but far cheaper than the likes of 888's. Worth considering at least.

    "Good morning
Thank you for getting in touch.
We are indeed working with Avon to manufacture this tyre. We have designed a new mould and we hope to see the first tyres before Christmas.
I keep your details in our file and we will send a Newsletter in a few weeks with the latest updates.
Feel free to share the news with other fellows Renault 5 GT Turbo owners and ask them to get in touch with me.

    Re: Tyres!!

Hi all , I received an email from vintage tyres .They will have the tyres (195×55×r13)for sale within the next few weeks. They are charging £130 a corner which is a con, considering the size of the things. They are made by Avon. Cheers

    Re: Tyres!!

I have been in contact with vt about a discount for RTOC members. If enough people are serious, we could negotiate a deal. The caveat is RTOC have not tried these tyres. They could be pure shit.

Unless you're going for an OE spec GTT you'd have to be a raving lunatic to pay that much for an unproven tyre!

I agree Alex, 200quid for 5 tyres is a bargain compared to what vintage want.

    Re: Tyres!!

You have to question will that 5mm make much or any difference? Having the extra 'cushion' might actually provide better comfort in a standard GT.

Would Avon bypass vintage tyres and sell direct? Are they cheaper?

I think VT use the mould from Avon Ian, or at least a copy of it under license.

I'm not sure what the compound they use is, but as stated the risk is they will be ditch finders!!
