    B18FT. Choosing a clutch

    Hi everyone.
im am in the process of rebuilding a B18FT engine for my renault 5 but am having trouble in deciding which clutch to go with i am having the head ported and polished at the moment and have a t28 hybrid
ready to install. have sent off for the engine to be lightened and balanced.
looking to make just over 200bhp.

does anyone know of a good fast road clutch which would be good for around 200bhp?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
here are a few i have had my eye on.

would a renault 5 gt turbo one be ok as i am using the volvo 480 gear box.

    kind regards josh

I would use a paddle friction plate with the Valeo cover, will help cope with the extra torque

Are you using standard ecu's with your engine?

AT 200ft lbs the Volvo 440T clutch should do it. That what so many 5GTTs used with that sort of torque. The Valeo one mentioned above is the one: Valeo Volvo 480 Turbo 200mm 3 piece kit in a green box. Valeo part no. 801015.

However, you can get quite a bit more than 200ft lbs with that 1.7 litre, hence the suggestion to use a paddle centre plate with the above cover.

Thanks very much for the help, that is what I'm going to do then. just have one question. When I stripped my gearbox I measured the clutch plate but it was measuring 215mm not 200m would this cause a problem. I heard that the later volvo model came with a 215mm clutch plate and earlier was 200m I had a look round but couldn't find a Vale clutch measuring 215mm. Kind regards josh

    I've got a feeling Helix do a 215mm 4 paddle.

Yes that 801015 is a for the 200mm so I expect it won't fit a 215mm. Sorry, I don't know any part numbers for 215mm.
