    Re: clutch

For a standard clutch I guess LUK would be a good choice. Not sure if valeo do a standard clutch kit but if the do, I would go for that one.

    Re: clutch

Valeo greenbox is best clutch for the R5GTT really, depends if you have soft pedal conversion fitted which can get in the way of a breadbin intercooler or just go with stock clutch fork with
    either OE or Valeo clutch.

    Re: clutch

Hi guys, not been on for a while. I have the green box clutch plus the soft pedal conversion Clio 172 kit. My problem is my clutch pedal sit very high I had to remove the plastic block from the pedal box to get the clutch to clear which causes the pedal to sit high. I'm I doing something wrong, I have the engine out at the moment and sent my gearbox off for a overhaul before fitting because I don't want to be doing this again. If I have done something wrong help would be appreciated before installing again.

    cheers

You simply saw a mm or two off the top of that plastic block.

It's detailed in the article I think.

I had that issue after we fitted the new green box clutch and soft pedal kit my pedal sat very high, all we did was set up the ratchet on the clutch pedal and once that was in place it sat perfect in-line with the others,i still have my original stop block in place not a problem at all.

    Re: clutch

i did the same thing as J and set it up with the ratchet, the pedal is still about an inch high but i don't mind that.it's worth considering how your going to use it, as in a lot of gear changes, stuck in traffic etc.the std set up becomes very heavy.also think about clutch cables, in the first 2 years mine broke twice, after fitting the soft pedal conversion im still on the same cable 5 years later.

    Re: clutch

Just playing devils advocate here but why would you want a soft pedal conversion on a standard clutch or even a valeo for that matter? Surely it's soft enough as it is?

its like i said it can be just a matter how you use the car.a std clutch isn't to bad but its not the lightest pedal out there,i live just inside the m25 so get a lot of traffic,it didn't take long before you felt it, and there's the extra strain on the cable. but it nominally just a matter of how you like the clutch pedal to feel.

!! You can't do that if it's working correctly. The ratchet is the self adjusting mechanism and in normal use the teeth ARE NOT engaged until the pedal is pressed. Sometime they do jam, but that a fault condition.

Sawing the block is the way. It's all in the article(s) I wrote 15 years or so ago

No its not nearly soft enough. Renault / Volvo designed it for the Clio and Volvo and that harder clutch. It's not for weak soft people!! It's for reliability and usability. And it provides MUCH better control during the bite point.

Again, detailed the article(s) I wrote.
