Not for quite a few months now. Second hand sets seem to be only available really as those with new are handing on to them. Just in case in the one in the car breaks

Only reproductions are the battery covers which can be purchased from abroad I guess as they selling the same from a couple of different people. Think somebody said the mold would cost a fortune to make and won't be feasible to do as people wouldn't want to pay good money for something which isn't original. Last sale price i saw was £70 I think. More than likely with the going rate will be near £100

You would need a big 3D printer to do this

    Re: Scuttle panel

I think Russ Bines' one would be too small. https://www.rtoc.org/boards/showthread.php?t=40144

I imagine it could manage it in two parts though. A piece of black tape down the centre, who's to know

What I don't know is how the printers are programmed. Russ has managed to do a plip key body but I'm not sure how he told the printer what all the intricate dimensions were.

    Re: Scuttle panel

Like a cad design image, guessing 3D scan and then print would be best for it, not sure how the printer copes without it being supported on printing unless the plastic dries quickly. Other thing is there would be no flex in it at all

    Re: Scuttle panel

    Good points.

From a flex point of view I think there are different grades of plastic that can be used and the printers can definitely go as thin as required in this case. Like you say though, how a weird shape like this would be supported so that it didn't move/fall during the printing process, I don't know. The plastic hardens very quickly but does the scuttle cover have a flat surface such that it would stay put as it was being printed? I guess you add a flat surface into the design and then trim afterwards.

Oh yeah good luck finding those. Mike did have some but not sure if all gone. Only seen one on eBay lately and that was purchased and went very cheap. Only found it after it had sold on.

Yeah, even finding a campus which is mint to cut up isn't going to be cheap and if scrapping a gt turbo the scuttle is going to be bad

I nearly said earlier that I think the OP is on about the lower screen panel, not a scuttle cover! Lol.

It's a shame how prices have changed but makes no sense at all. As now a five is worth more in parts than as a complete car. Feel it's all wrong really. Considering ,let's face it ,the poor build quality. We buy em for the nostalgia and the fun factor not the rareity. A cheaper fun car which you could afford to fix is now something you have to leave in the garage for fear of having to buy a part for it. Simply sucks

    Re: Scuttle panel

I'm afraid prices have only been going one way for some time now. You have to remember a lot of parts haven't been produced in years. I think manufacturers have a responsibility to ensure parts are available for something like 10 years ? but that's all. Personally I don't think £375 for the windscreen surround is bad compared to say new gear knobs which go for around £300, they were less than £20 originally, or that PH2 grill on ebay currently at over £200. IIRC grills were about £28 new. However £110 for a scuttle cover, don't forget the tenner postage !, is mad really for a piece of plastic but then again like anything its worth what someone is willing to pay. If you've spent thousands on the car and need something like this as a finishing touch then its probably justifiable to the individual. I wont be buying it though.

Exactly Dale what are they like £100+ now. To be fair I cant see even the most hardcore paying that for a pedal cover.

Think £50 is even pushing for that but people have paid that before. Be interesting creating a list of parts and rough value of them
