Correct but i thought if you did the back up and then re-installed the back up on the new computer everything would be gravy once you authorised the Comp with Itunes?

There is a programme called iRip that rips the music from your iPod onto any computer. The free demo one lets you transfer 200 tracks without buying or try the torrent sites for a copy.

    Re: itunes transfer

i KNOW HOW TO DO THIS WITHOUT SOFTWARE !!

First install itunes on your new lappy,
then open itunes and click EDIT and open PREFERENCES,
now you can connect your pod without itunes recognising it !!!
open your ipod in MY COMPUTER
    then open ITUNES LIBRARY
now click TOOLS on your toolbar,
then click on FOLDER OPTIONS, choose the second tab which is VIEW,
then look on the list and click the box that says SHOW HIDDEN FILES/FOLDERS
then OK , you should now be able to see your itunes music folder or somethin like that, so copy and paste it to your desktop ( could take a while )
then when you've done go to itunes, close the preferences and select FILE, ADD FOLDER, and add the folder to your library !!

If you need any help let me know
