There was a slightly different undertray for the 5 on here a while ago. Suppose it would be useful to catch any small oil leaks although may reduce cooling slightly.

According to the blurb, these were fitted to commercial vehicles, for either the French
equivalent of the GPO or for electric company vehicles. Maybe to protect the sump on
rough terrain, or in snowy areas like in the Alps. Amazing that they'd be using turbo
    cars though...

You have to wonder. If these were/are a good idea, why were they not fitted as standard? And also of course, why weren't they.

Perfect for anyone running their GTT as a daily or in the rain at any time. Not seen one quite like this before.

Very true, but back in them days none of the cars i used to work on ever had undertrays fitted regardless of the make/model. It wasnt until the late 90`s I started finding cars came with undertrays. So it might just be a "fashion" thing.

Sure, they are handy for stopping oil dripping on your drive etc, but i find them a right pain as you cant then easily spot if you have any leaks etc. Also they end up making what would be a 15minute oil change turn into a nightmare when you have to start undoing loads of fastners to undo an undertray.

I think this one has a hole to get to the sump plug so not too bad in terms of changing the oil. Good point about making it harder to spot leaks though.

One of the real binds with GTT's is how easy it is for the weather to get up and into the bay covering everything in crap and accelerating wear.

I think I'd take the pros over the cons with this.
