WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Apologies for the amount of photo's I take.. I've copied the entire thread from Cliosport.net so it's quite an introduction

However, that's what projects are all about !?

The misses and I have owned a tidy Trophy spec 172 in Flame Red, an immaculate DCI 100 with lots of extras, and a Liquid Yellow 182 (I still miss this car). I enjoyed driving each one of them and said one day I would get myself one at some point, and here we are.

The car's original advert and pictures:

Stunning White with ST Orange Alloys -
Cammed and Ktec Chipped - Pretty sure it has a Ktec Stage 1 Map, but the cams I highly doubt
    Ktec Coilovers
    Ktec Matched Inlets
    K&N Apollo Induction kit
Ktec Stealth Exhaust - Also has a decat pipe
182 Gear Box - This was hardly a selling point - The speedo didn't work !
    Show cage - Dangerous
Carbon Fibre Trims - Mirrors, Bullets, Rear bumper strip, Front Fog Surrounds - See thread
Polybushed - All I can see so far is a Powerflex dogbone mount
    De-badged boot
"This car sounds AMAZING, like it's on throttle bodies"

So after a bit of a deal and cash my way the exchange was made, and the car was finally away from that ridiculous 'Swapz' website where most of it's wreckage came from

Fairwell to my Ibiza Cupra, owned it twice and spent a fortune on re-painting it etc but time for a bit of RenaultSport again!

I took the car straight to the garage and set about getting some pics before work began:

    Out came the tools

Door pillar badges were missing so..

    Polished up after this

Stupid petrol cap and rear window stickers removed

As an emergency measure, borrowed my 5's William's wheels

Got a bit dark so drove home and unbolted the "cage" ..... also ST Orange but had started to be sanded down

    On the new wheels

Next set about doing a few bits to the interior

How the centre console was fitted...

    Unplugged and broken hazard switch

How the steering was... (Ball joint was LOOSE and tracking 3-4 degrees out...) So had this sorted on the finest laser equipment

Changed a blown reversing bulb for a reversing beeper, why not

Set about removing all the crap behind the console and dash, Nokia Bluetooth kit etc

Here shows other things that went in the bin (guess the bulb colour)

    Sub earth

    Amp live cable!

    Loose switch

    The seats

You may of noticed the "Carbon" the car was advertised with... It's now in the bin

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Next up... The Ktec Stealth... Did not have a centre mount

At the same time I noticed this!! After one day!!

Found this and now connected the fogs work ...

    Powerflex dogbone

    Rear Mount

    Centre Mount

Bought and fitted new centre mount

    Sold the "cage"

Which paid for the new interior !

    Needed a fair old clean

Sorted the carpet and shell out and found £2.57

Made the false floor fit the boot as a temp measure

How to open the bootlid.... This has to go ASAP so for the moment refitted the trim and used something a bit stronger...

    Seats done !

Got this to replace the single light

Actually fitted a home for the tax disc

The bolt I found didn't stay in long

Chucked a spare on while my mate repaired the Toyo and gave it some Karcher loving..

Got the wheel back and wiped the car down

Tow eye fitted to take a bit of distraction from the damaged front bumper (bottom left)

    Finally got my xenon's

2000 graded them wet with soap, need to get the buffer on them as the lense is quite misty and dull after removing the corrosion off them

3M Restore for the xenons arrived:

    Hazing and water marking

(I completed the 500 (pictured), 800, 3000 and then final polish stage with the 3M kit)

No further photos due to the sun going down and wanted to get it done

    Results

Ordered silver bulbs to de-tango all the lights (nice to have a spare)

HIDS Direct - 6000k Xenon Bulbs

Lancia/FIAT/Alfa - Mist type washer jets

    YES ! Found this...

    Which arrived like this...

The company did apologise profoundly, gave me a full refund, and said keep it to use it for parts..

So I'm a little closer to an OE bootlid !

Thanks to ClioSport for agreeing to send out a folder instead of a bottle opener etc for the paperwork to be kept tidy

The Richmond Tax disc kept coming away from the screen, so got a magnetic easy change one instead

And a narrow plate for good measure (to be stuck on of course)

    OE Diamond

Replaced my water damaged rear view for an OE un-damaged one

    Twin interior light in

'Mist' Washer Jets - Before and after

Tax back in the windscreen with easy fit holder

Cleaned off layers and layers of double sided tape for the narrow plate - Note that bumper crack..

    Silvertechs in the rear

Bumper off for the Black Xenon's, Silvertechs, side light delete, and 6000k Bulbs

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Old headlights... Spare bulb anyone? Not even connected to the adjuster :S

Changed the horn whilst I was there... Beep Beep at last!

Misses arrived home with a delivery.. Bootlid #2 - Thanks Renparts

Off to collect a replacement bumper tomorrow

Custom floor mats I had made up to match the coloured Phase One interior

A change from the usual RS items, but with a boot mat thrown in, and no loss of quality

    Changed the bootlid

Cleaned areas and routed wiring etc

Old number plate snapped from an over kill of tape

Ordered a new one, but here it is before I cleaned and polished it up

    Next..

The Cup decided to ask santa for a clutch...

Mean't I could fit my speedo drive box, Millers Fully Synth and an OE non-slipping clutch!

Tool's at the ready here goes..

This job was a complete nightmare working on the floor, barely above freezing temps, on axel stands, and on your own bench pressing it all!

Note the transport in the interim ...

    What I found ..

Pressure plate.. bolt stuck in place and cracked casing

Other side completely broken off (piece was still bolted in the flywheel)

Gearbox casing scored but luckily not damaged at all

New Valeo Clutch, bearing, pressure plate, grease and alignment tool and plate

Boom! Aligned a beaut, box slide on first time on my own

Sump plug washer replaced and silky new oil going in

A huge amount more happened in this clutch / gearbox process, but very happy to know it's done correctly.

If I had a crane with me, I would of been one mount, or a few bolts away from pulling the whole engine out itself.

Anyway finally mean't I could clear this code!

The car was pretty lagged with all the work so a Karcher / Meguiars clean down

Gave the misses 225 a once over while I was there

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Took it to the end of the street and back, speedo working, auto lock kicked in, and things were feeling good apart from the camber was miles out.

So went to pull the wheels off but the passenger side bolts decided to snap..

    Sigh !

    Sorted another Cup hub

Plan: New wheel bolts all round!

    Job done

    Or so I thought..

    Boot popped off the bearing

    Re-seated but still leaking

    Another gear oil drain !

Turned out the boot clip was my issue, no wonder I couldn't solve the leak, should of spotted this after doing the box

Degreased inside and out, now with permanent clip, pressed on with tool

Given the oil had been drained through three times, and I had lost half a litre... Another Opie's visit

    Sorted

    (Picture after a weeks driving)

DVLA pulled a Christmas cracker ...

Moving off the mechanical side of things for a minute

The passenger seat wasn't able to used for getting into the back, because of this

Still had the old seats lying around, and personally prefer the phase two handles, so they got used as donors for a phase 1/2 swap

The hole from the old handle, used some black tape behind, then super glue to pull it all in

Then used a small patch from cutting out the new handle earlier

Without the flash on this isn't hardly noticeable now its in the car Will do the drivers seat in time

    Alcantara door cards

Cleaned these up along with a new set of matching black seat belts

Fitting time, replacement plastics, trims, new clips, parcel shelf etc

    3rd rear belt swap

Found some more carbon wrap hidden away.. BIN!

Some other bits which were bugging me, why do people do things like this?!

Today was time for a road trip...

To Dan at SJM Automotive - Thanks for getting these photos for me

    Cam belt kit
    Dephaser
    Aux Belt
    Cam shaft seals
    Oil and Filter
    Rocker cover resealed
    Sump removed and resealed
and a couple of other issues put right he found (like the aux belt fitted the wrong way round and a tensioner)

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Note the oil collected from the leak..

Re-coiled inlet plenum threads and replaced the bolts as they were all wrong and threaded!

    Timing before

    Leaky cam seal!

Not seated correctly from the last belt change

    Timing

A bit of cleaning and degreasing etc..

With the weather improving after the South West storms, the rear screen was finally warm and dry enough to fit my CS interior sticker

    Cleaned up the wheels

Deciding I wanted to change the exhaust, and opted for a K-Tec recessed exhaust system..

Hit pot luck when someone showed interest in my stealth system, as he wanted rid of his recessed one, so an exchange later...

Picked up some other goodies for the job:

Renault Red Centre Mount (got through 2 non genuine ones already!)
Renault Manifold to Cat Gasket Kit
    Renault Cat to Centre Gasket
    Genuine 182 Surround
    Mikalor clamps

Off with the stealth.. where I found my exhaust rattle/knocking, heat shield collapsed and sat on top of the backbox / rear beam section

    Washer and nut.. Sorted

Got a new Dremel, couldn't be without one of these for doing stuff like this

No more tippex'd? touched up tatty bumper..

    Bumper back on and done!

Wasn't going to do the downpipe/cat on axel stands so dropped down to a mates garage

Nasty DIY decat and cheap / bent / glued gaskets

Rain and storms ripped the last one

The car is sounding 110% better with mostly all induction noise...

No howly, raspy, tinny, loud decat..

Almost silent now, but still gives a nicer and deeper note when it's red hot after giving it some

    Skoda Fabia splitter group buy

Next, a Pure Motorsport group buy

I went for the strut brace only to match the top mounts

Gave the bay a wipe down, refitted the K&N Apollo plastic cover, and removed a couple of bits to tidy it up

Things were going well.. until I had no starting motor one morning.. knew exactly why and found this predictably blowing in the wind..

Renewed the connection with a spare bootlid wiring loom I had (the heated rear screen connection is identical, even has the same colour wire and plastic plug), took the opportunity to extend it a little while I was there

Didn't rate the K&N since the exhaust change, so going to a BMC CDA, a big one..

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Glacier White with 205-110 RS Writing

    Super smooth !

    Fitted:

    Final alacantra door card
    Temporary open cone filter
Phase 1 look gearknob as the leather one crumbled
    The Renault Sport bullets
    An unpainted RS Grill

Spent the rest of my morning doing the following:

    Removed side skirt decals
    Checked all the levels/fluids etc
    Jet Washed
    Meguiars Shampooed
    Rinsed
    Apple Screen Wash
    Water Magnet Dried
    AG Tar Removed
    AG Custom Wheel Cleaned
    AG SRP'd
    Meguiars Window Cleaned
    Meguiars Metal Polished Exhaust Tip
    AG Vinyl & Rubber Shined
    Meguiars Hot Shine Tyre Shined

    Some reflection shots

    Bullets

Joiner for the larger BMC CDA arrived

Silicone hose and oil feed. Cut to suit, not my choice of colour but not paying Samco prices on this hose

    Old hose ..

TB cleaned up with carb cleaner, behind the butterfly also

Nasty peely sticker binned off (replacement further down the page)

Converted the drivers seat to phase two spec

Phase one seat sliding handles were always popping off

    Note the old seat bolster

Also renewed the resistors, the original plug resistors had been chopped, no finished photos but all insulated and clipped to the seats

Trip down to my local Citroen..

Mint OE aerial base from a 182

Thought I'd have an issue when removing 'The Fin' ..

    Nice and tight

Fixed the crushed washer jet hose, finally it works!

Noticed my plate light becoming intermittent, stripped the plug down and found this..

Renewed the plug with the spare boot lid loom and got myself down to Renault to replace the unit

Some fresh Glacier White 369 from my local paint shop to have to following sorted:

    Front Bumper
    Washer Caps
    N/S Side Skirt
    Mirror Caps
    Dash Strips
    Gear Knob Insert
    Steering Wheel Insert
    Dials/Clocks Surround

Back from the painters, dial surround still not back the mo:

Thanks to N2Grafix for the bumper decals

    Fabia Splitter tabs flat levelled

Went over the xenons with the 3M kit as I did them off the car last time around

Was able to give them some good pressure this time (left first stage, right finished)

    Done

Old mirror caps (foam tapped on..) and some honest photos of what I was hiding regards the front bumper !!

Fell to pieces from poor repair work

Spent the rest of the evening removing the old bumper speed clips and bolts, the bumper was obviously pulled off without undoing the bolts at some point.. nightmare..

New bumper (now actually bolted on to the car)

Splitter perfectly straight, short short screws and clean cut ends

The sideskirt had been forced off/on at some point, used to annoy me seeing this every day..

Here's why... typical Clio jacking point error... probably the same time the wheels where taken off to be painted orange .. !

Got cleaning, mole grips, long nose pillars, hammers etc

New bolts, lock nuts and washers, fresh!

    Overview of changes..

(Induction, Aerial, Grill Replacement Decal, Painted Bits, Splitter, Drivers Seat etc)

Oh and a wash, standard !

Stay tuned for the interior bits.. (Again thanks to N2Graphix)

Stunning stunning stunning project. Absolutely love it, thanks for bringing it across to RTOC

I love the attention to detail, subtle touches and the calm, methodical approach, it's a joy to read.

You just wouldn't guess it by looking at the first pictures but this car was effectively a heap when you took it on. It was like all the mods and repair work in the last 5 years was done to the worst standard possible whilst still allowing the car to stay on the road. I can't believe how much restoration has been required. What joker was responsible for all that mess!

Looking forward to any and all updates

No problem Trev, it took me a while to copy it over with only 50 photos per post, I'll be honest I drafted it up on wordpad before hand

I must admit I could of got a far better car, ended up viewing this one 2-3 times before commiting to a cash my way deal. The first viewing I told myself not to touch it.. however I looked into its history etc and could not walk away from it, I loved it was Glacier White.

I found another White 1.2 with 'Full 172 conversion' in Wales however the owner never came back to me. A few months later I seen it in my area.. IN A LOCAL SCRAP YARD, couldn't believe my eyes, full of big problems and huge wiring issues.. lucky escape for me I think, I seen this as a sign mine was better after all

Agreed pictures can be hugely deceiving.. I mean look at my other thread of my 5 GTT.. that was worse.. more on that later

Thanks for the praise, I got the car last November so it's been a busy 6 months or so, need to get those Speedline Turini's sorted out so the 5 can have its wheels back!

Yeah, Glacier white looks mint on both GTT's and this mark of Clio and Turinis will set it off fantastically.

I was close to painting my GTT in Glacier but decided against it last minute as didn't see many black ones and wanted to keep it original. Won't see many Glacier Clio's like mine

I've been wanting to itch my event scratch for many years, in more ways than one, shows, track time etc

Problem is with track time is that I've just had a load of bits painted and this car isn't really track spec. The way I've done it is for a nice daily, fast road if you like?

The interior on these fall out easy enough so perhaps an afternoons work and I could run it round Mallory and put my work to the test

Nice car fella, looking minty fresh & getting well and truly stuck in! Had a 172 cup as a daily for 5 1/2 years, awesome car however soon had loads of miles on so sold in place of a low miler 172 full fat that ive still got as a daily until 'trophy fund' matures

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Interior plastics stickered up and four coats of lacquer..

Interior cleaned up and mats in

    Pedals metal polished

PH1 style spare gear knob (Need to get the heatsheilds and exhaust off to fit my mint 182 one) .. Also a cig lighter torch

Dash top off for assembling the clocks

Front tyres were getting low so picked up a good second hand set.. Nankang beasts!

Here's why the Toyos scrubbed out

Corrected to 0.5 degrees, also matches the look of the back

Trip to the tyre shop again (Don't like other people jacking the car up, look what happened to the sideskirt previously!)..

    Remember these wheels?

Little job I've been meaning to do for a while..

Drivers door handle clip, used to always be loose due to the clips broken

Few Renault bits (more on this later)

Measured up, levelled, and mirrored the position of the Clio badge

Opted for some 182 Cup one piece door pillar badges

The original ones with the yellow 172 never looked right on the white paint, plus they always tend to be wonky

    Again, measured and levelled etc

    Spoilered streaky wipers binned

Looking miles better and these perform a treat!

    That's all for now...

Epic restoration! As Trev has already said, love the attention to detail.

I really want a Ph1 172, but they aren't that many knocking about in Aus....

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Wasn't happy with the blue induction / reducer adaptor set up, thought I wouldn't be happy with anything other than the BMC CDA, until I tried this out..

KTR's induction kit, in black, which fitted the bill perfectly

Gave the filter a good clean with some spare pipercross foam cleaning fluid, and replaced the worn looking jubilee clips

A tight fit, battery did need to come out

Really does sound the nuts though..

Has a slightly less deep note than the BMC but an almost TB type note to it, and really opens up on 5K !

The engine was becoming a little unhappy in the mornings, engine code of pre-cat lambda sensor.

Went for a direct to OE plug Bosch fitment one, came with the plastic fitting clip and pre-greased

This old one was unbranded, had been cut and wire joined (obviously cheap universal one)

Rattled like mad once it was removed!

Whilst I was there, replaced an exhaust mount bolt as the other one turned to cheese..

Had an intermittent problem with the left indicator bulb.

After time with a multi metre, some forum help from CS.net with pin outs, was down to a pin in the plug dislodged from the slightly

Bit of experience with stripping the clocks, will come in handy for an White LED conversion one day... !

    Ally footrest from Dan@MAD

Old one broke on removal lol

Replaced a rear seat belt buckle that gave up

Deleted the charcoal box/carbon canister thing and did the pipe work

Got another Cup airbag module after having an airbag light since having the car due to a defective module

Thanks to Dan@SJM for sorting the configuration out!

The last tax disc for the car... Better do it neatly!

Standard size BSAU plates in prep for MOT

Reduced the camber due to the other Nankangs scrubbing out rather quickly

Down to 0.5 degrees now and towed to match, less silly slow wheel spin pulling out of uphill junctions

New set of T1R's to match the rears again

Thanks to G_172 from CS.net for getting these brakes to me within a couple of days:

    Brembo Front Pads
    Brembo Rear Pads
    Brembo Rear Discs
    Renault Rear Disc Spacers
    Replacement Rear Hub Nuts

I also have had an as new set of Brembo Max Front Discs sat around for a while collecting surface rust so dug these out while I was there

Decided to also get hold of a rear pad fitting kit..

A good thing to as mine unbelieveably had NO SPRING RETAINING CLIPS FITTED!

I have no idea how the pads have stayed in, made me feel a little sick..

So... old, worn, bumpy feeling, scoured, and warped feeling brakes

Passenger side I had to use a lump hammer to remove for 25 minutes, hard, didn't feel great, then the bearing let go of itself

Spent some time cutting the remainder of the bearing off.

The reason for this side being such a pain was probably because the disc spacer was missing!

    New bits

The drivers side almost fell loose as soon as the nut was off

Reason... this side had a spacer fitted

However.. note the rubber seal bulging out.. seized rear caliper

Spent some good time cleaning this up while it was extended out fully with small wire brushes and good glass paper and smoothing then whacked in a seal of copper grease to get it going again

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Old pads were very brittle and worn from the heat of the caliper no doubt

Caliper sliding like a dream now and working the best it has been since I've had the car, brakes in a straight line!

With the rears finally in good working order, moved on to cleaning up the front discs

New pads and caliper to carrier bolts

Dirty wheels, although don't look it, back on and Toyo's on also

    The big ... MOT TIME

    Passed first time

However was asked a couple of things before they did the advisories on the computer:

    1: Exhaust system isn't a standard item - ORLY?
2: Handbrake only just efficient - Put this down to the new brakes, he agreed they had not even worn in yet
3: Xenons - Asked if I fitted them and because I had did, these were 'retro fitted' so no washers came from factory, so would pass?
4: Modified rear brake compensator - Cup rear brake set up lol
5: Suspension is lowered - Oh?
6: Brake pipe corroded - The only real advisory ?!

So with all that out the way, back on with the narrow plate and a wash before tucking it in for the evening

Was a little overkill.. photobucket fail..

It's my daily so really its more interior bits and pieces, change the wheels back to the 16" Turini's when I grab some tyres etc, and then just maintenance really (engine mounts etc)

No crazy boost, track, stripping out or anything for this car.. if I was doing that I should of kept it like it was when I first got it

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Moving on, finally a wheel change!

A friend snapped these Turini's up and planned to refurbish them with track tyres. Initially I wanted the T1R's for my wheels but ended up doing a swap deal

    (Facebook photos)

    Got them home..

    195/45/16 T1R's

Not really thought much of black wheels, but here they are before..

A considerable amount of time cleaning them up..

Removed the Renault Sport (or R nau t S ort) stickers which were peeling anyway, the paint scars stood out a mile..

45 Minutes with a touch up stick, and some tyre slick, we had this..

Now at this stage I need to remind everyone again, and myself, that these are only temporarily on until they get re-painted

So a couple of snaps of them on the car..

The Williams Speedlines back where they belong

Routing about the house came across these CS goodies from the past!

I'll leave you with the magic number..

Those wheels look fantastic already. What colour will they be eventually? OE?

Btw, which tyre dressing product did you use?

The pictures do them a bit of a favour TBH.. I'm undecided really, originally planned for Trophy colour but may go slightly darker much like the Williams ones are, or high pearl silver, or even maybe White... However mixed opinions on those two colours!

Tyre dressing was Meguiars The clear Hot Tyres or something stuff I think it's called, had a couple of bottles for nearly 3 years now and going strong!

Epic thread fella, great work and attention to detail in the restoration, was in a rather sorry bodged state when you bought it, exhaust mounts falling off and squashed sills/ jacking points all telltale signs on clio's.

Now its all sorted and minty fresh, love those custom mats you had made, where did you get them from?

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

I'll start with saying a special thanks for providing me with some ClioSport electricity

Got the car back home and chucked on the multi meter which gave me this (Car running and voltage slowing dropping off)

Out with the battery as it ran completely flat, and gave it a good day and overnight charge.. Meow

Thanks to Renault Wolverhampton for sorting this out..

    Out with the old...

    In with the new !

Impeccable timing... ever feel like all you do is pay car tax That time again!

Whilst we are on that track, Renault Wolverhampton then sorted some of these bits out, ECP are the other bits..

    ELF Evolution SXR 5L
Renault Oil Filter and Sump Plug Washer
    Gearbox Oil Washer
    Renault Type D Coolant 5L
    Renault Thermostat
    Renault NGK R Plugs
'Prospark Leads' Pretty pleased with these for the price
    Bremi Coilpack

Oh.. and thanks to Halfords for the special offer on Screen Wash!

Got to work with the ignition side of things due to a lead popping off and melting on the manifold.. resulting in a misfire..

    Plugs were terrible..

All torqued up and new leads

Gave the inside of the TB a good wipe down whilst I was there..

    Done...

Fluids and Brake and Gearbox fluid change soon, but will do this all together.

    Next... I cleaned my airbag...

Because my steering wheel got naked

Merry Christmas from my misses whom is now my 'fiancee / wife to be be!'

To replace this monstrosity which has grated on me since day one...

Thanks to "snappy" for the TOP WORK, what people say was true, these are excellent:

    Retrimmed Wheel
    White 12 O'clock
    White Stitching
Perforated Thumb Grips and Bottom Section

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Extremely happy with how this next part is going so far.. Renault should of done this from factory IMO!

    Glovebox

    Boot

Got dismantling the MFD / Clock / Radio display

Before (Both bulbs blown and only sunlight providing this)

With the power of Acetone.. Bleached the orange away

Got myself a new soldiering iron to replace my old 'hot broken spoon' I had before

Ended up with this.. Not the look I was after

Ordered some translucent filter sheeting and made up a replacement filter..

Done, camera makes it look a little odd here?!

With that done, interior light time... !

    Number Plate Lamp

And lastly.. A sneak peak of the new 182 interior if anyone hasn't spied this yet

More on this later.. that's enough for now !

Updaaaate! Flippin' brilliant Chris. I love this thread so much

It amazes me every time I come to read this thread that there are still places that you haven't touched on this car, and also how many things you're still coming across that are broken, damaged, dirty or ill-fitted from the past!

That steering wheel is absolutely beautiful and is styled perfectly for this car, what an improvement on the tatty original. And I love the freshening of the dials and clock/radio displays. Like an OE upgrade rather than a chavvy mod.

I can't wait for the next instalment.

Edit: btw, what is that rectangular CS thing clipped into the recess of the glovebox tray?

I'm not sure why I do it tbh more of a personal car diary I guess!

I have lots to do still but at the moment this cold weather isn't fun without a garage

The square thing is a clio sport membership card lol.. its the only card I would leave in the car

    thank you mate

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Work told me I needed to use some leave up, so what better excuse to plough into my to-do list on the Cup!

    Silver 182 Belts..

    The difference fully extended!

Hot water and soap etc didn't touch them.. so opted for the power washer which gave instant results! (See 50/50)

    Dried.. Boom!

    Working dimmer switch

    Acetoned the pedals and footrest

B Pillar Trims to match the new interior as 172/182 seem to vary?

Replaced the pretensioners with better condition ones (replacement top, original bottom)

Immaculate 182 gearknob and gaiter, Renault really did know how to put them on, ended up sawing it off then mole grips to pull the bar out after lubing it!

Next up.. assembling the interior again after selling my PH1 setup

Drove to Wales for this bargain, immaculate, 182 interior after being a bit sceptical from the photos

Nice little touch, illuminated sunvisors, wired them off an ignition live

Ordered up a load of LED's to finish the interior conversion

Moving to the rear, twin boot light..

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Heater controls... have been putting this off... removed the orange bits where possible

Footwell lighting, wired off the interior light so they fade out once the cars started

Replaced the rear wiper arm as it seized after washing and broke off

Found a permanent fix for the rear fog light illuminating when you brake, tried new bulb holders, cleaned up the connections, but bending the earth pin worked a treat... ignore the old dial colour photo... It's been doing it for a while!

    Deleted the charcoal box pipes

After all this, my driveshaft made me feel like the world was about to end...

Thanks to ALS Performance Parts for a decent replacement (Bottom)

Good excuse for a major service, right?

Renault ELF SXR, Washer, Filter, Ghetto Funnel

Renault Type D Coolant and Thermostat as its been dropping temps on open roads

Thanks again to Renault Wolverhampton for all his hard work getting everything to me

Renault Elf Box Oil, PS Fluid, Sensor and more Type D as it takes more than 5l

Replaced the linkage bar as mine got dinked, and reversed the dogbone bolt as it knocked in neutral

Re: WP53 OKO - Glacier White Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup

Replaced the low pressure PS pipe for a non perished one with brackets, replaced the high pressure Renault PS sensor as mine started leaking, cleaned the filter and some Renault PS fluid

Also a good excuse to clean the KTR Filter again and more berry screen wash

Done! Also a Fuel Rail Guard.. to be repainted with inlet in due course

Moving to the rear of the car next, removed the adjusters as the rear sat too high IMO and cleaned things up

Refurbished wiper arms, really make a noticeable difference paired with some Auto Finesse Revive on the scuttle!

The best sidelights I could find

Paired with some ridiculous foglight bulbs

CS trolley coin makes a good keyring, excuse the sign from the inlaws!

Wrapping up this with the results of the CS Auto Finesse cleaning kit I won on the forums competition

    Enjoy !

Dropped off the Turini's for a refresh.. They were looking tired and in black made them look a bit lost on this car

Painted in the same colour as the Williams alloys, HNR Stone Grey, and the insides blown over...

Prepped and sealed with some Poorboys, smelt like I could eat them !

195/45/16 Toyo Proxes T1R's slapped on!

    Fitted...

I umm'd and arr'd about the 'Speedline Corse' decals to achieve a more Trophy look... Silver vs Anthracite

Trialled the silver ones first... just to check they didn't look like flashing valve caps spinning around...

But the Silver won hands down...

    Before

    During some measurements

    Subtly fitted...

    I Turini's

Wheels look fantastic, they suit the car so well.

Chris, I can't think of what else you could to the exterior to improve it from a styling perspective. It's perfect from my lay point of view and the best looking Clio I've ever seen.

What are your remaining jobs/tweaks for the rest of the car?

Nice attention to detail getting the wheel decals in the correct position opp valve.

cheers Trev, I have put together around 5/6 to do lists from the start, made what I consider a final one now, A4 sheet, which is a bit of engine bay painting and maintenance bits, then body work in places, dents and chips alongside a mirror cap I've scuffed being in a rush

Nothing that will be much different looks wise in the scheme of things

Indeed, I worked it out to be between the L and the I on the Speedline to draw a line, then line that up to the right hand side of the spoke, opposite the valve

I do like the V6 / Trophy spoiler however cannot justify £300-400 plus paint for one, plus my car is a Cup so the spoiler stays!
