    Monaco 1.7 power steering

    Hi

I got complete power steering with steering rack from scrapped Renault 5 Monaco (1.7 manual), will it fit straight to my new turbo'd C1J campus as wifey complained the steering heavy on Campus. 😬

If not possible, then I'll sell it 👍

Looks like the rack fits ok but there are associated issues that would need sorting, namely the pump, since the 1.7 is an F series engine.

Does the pump and gubbins designed for the F series Monaco engine fit directly on to a C1J then? The threads in the search appear to suggest that's not possible?

your probably right trev. did any gt turbos come with power steering trev? id have assumed you would use a bigger fan belt and add the pump that way if thats possible. the alternator bit sits in the same place on the monaco and gt turbo.

Didn't Dave SBS do a power steering conversion using the Monaco items?

For some reason the link I posted up doesn't give you the search results I got.

Basically it's just 'power steering' in the keyword box and uses 'thread titles only' in the dropdown.

That brings up a number of useful threads, one which refers to DaveSBS and in the same one Miller tells us that 1.7 gubbins will not fit and that is what Sean appears to have for sale.

this will not fit a c1j the pump and alternator brackets are all different the steering rack will fit unless you got Volvo lump it would work, you would need the early 1.4 Monaco power steering setup has a twin crankshaft pully for two belts with a small power pump that fits under the alternator this would fit the gt turbo and look OE

I sold Monaco G-reg 1.4 auto to guy who planning to convert it to Clio 16v set up and will rid of power steering and pump, worth ask him if sell to me to fit it on my turbo'd c1j Campus instead of 1.7 power steering rack and pump?

Since the 1.7 stuff wont fit and the 1.4 auto stuff will fit, the question is, do you want power steering:

    Yes - ask the buyer
No - don't ask the buyer
