    OE+ Project

I bought a second 5 gt turbo a little while back and thought it was time I started a new thread!!

Fear not, I am still going to finish my old project too.

Well to start I thought I'd put on a pic of the new number plate I bought recently.

These cars are German aren't they??!!?

I have sent an email pointing out I ordered a plate with the French badge! Doh.... It did make me laugh when I opened the packet!

A cracking start to my project eh!

    Re: OE+ Project

One 5 is never enough! And all of mine have only ever been tungy grey, more through luck than judgement!

Cheers Nad I did pop a few pics on when I bought it. It's in pretty good condition but it needs a bit of refining I think.

Just to note, I didn't take the pics below. They were in the advert when it was up for sale. I will take some 'real' pictures ASAP.

Picking holes in it, I want to put in a red carpet instead of a grey one.

I want the black bumper strips as these are colour coded, but jeeez they are expensive.

I want the OE air filter and intercooler. I also want to try and get standard boost hoses too.

Fit my a pillar boost and afr gauge holder.

Still stuck on whether to keep these wheels or put my minty mint speedlines on.

The door cards are a little saggy so not sure what I can do there. Any tips?

The exhaust is a scorpion system which is fine BUT it has a massive back box so that will be getting changed!

Hoping to replace all headlights, indicators, rear lights and side lights just to freshen it up.

And then after that I want to get a T25 to give the car a little more boost!

The side decals don't look quite right to me either. Any input on that from anyone?

Needs a service and change brakes, plugs, leads and all the normal stuff!

Just a short list to start. Am sure I will come up with loads more....

No mate it's not. I wouldn't buy anything from that dodgy character !!!!

(The above is a joke, he is a nice guy who did a cracking job with his 5)

I bought it local to me from a guy who had it about a year. Thinking about current prices, i got it for a great price.

Thanks for the compliment by the way

    Re: OE+ Project

    It failed

But only a few silly bits. The battery wasn't held down tight enough. The front washer motor had died and the near side rear bulb had gone.

A quick trip home, raided my spares stash and I have a New Years MOT!!

Insurance and tax and its back on the road for some boosting!!!

The friendly MOT guy even let me have a look under the 5 after the MOT. I so want a pit in my garage now!! The sills and jacking points looked in decent shape which was a result!

Thanks for the good words. She isn't in bad condition to be fair! Looking forward to doing a bit of work and making her minty Mint!

As for my other 5 gt turbo- I def want to finish it as I have put far too much time and money into it to not complete it. The initial plan was to sell it.........

But I have been looking it and I am not sure I can bring myself to do that tbh!! Dilemma!!!

    Re: OE+ Project

Things have stalled a little with both my 5s as my son takes up more time than I ever thought! But I have kept hold of both cars. Started doing the odd bit on the road legal one too so I thought I'd update.

Had the turbines refurbed and decided on a colour change from black. I personally think I def made the correct choice

Still needs a service, downpipe fitting, the bigger turbo, and the afr and boost gauge fitting to the a pillar. Then the interior needs refresh. Have a red carpet ready to go in. The grey doesn't do it for me. So hopefully I'll post a little more often now.

Have also started getting into into the cleaning side of things too. Snow foam, clay bars and some poor boys products. See how that works out 👍

Def will do. Hoping to get more regular updates now I am back up and running.

Think I was camped next to you at retro? Did you have the yellow Clio? One of my friends had the really old Mercedes parked up. Not sure if you saw it.

    Re: OE+ Project

Bit more work on the 5 yesterday. Gave her a full service and hoping to put on the turbo, afr gauge and downpipe next weekend. Have forgotten how much I enjoy working on her! The tdc lead didn't fit correctly though at the top end?!?! Very weird. Have looked at my four other spares and they are all correct. Very strange

Still feel like I have loads to do! The handbrake is at max adjustment and I can still turn the wheel round by hand 👎 I have ordered two new fables. May change the rear discs and pads too if this helps.

    Re: OE+ Project

Have booked the 5 in for an MOT on the 15th April. Hopefully she passes and is then ready for the national day and FCS!

The handbrake seems much better so let's hope all is well! Have actually been in the garage sorting out parts etc I had so much rubbish. Actually chucked the gt tuning Bosch dump valve and greedy turbo timer! Need to declutter!

Am still toying with putting my freshly refurbed 13's on the old girl. That will make her look nigh on standard on the outside, just the body coloured bump strips to address!

Hopefully put more than 83 miles on her this year!🙊

    Re: OE+ Project

Took the 5 for its MOT yesterday morning. Squeaky bum time.....and it passed! Although a few small issues, all four wheel bearings are showing signs of needing replacing so that's on the list and the rear exhaust joint is blowing slightly (and knocking!). So I am pretty happy with that to be honest.

Only downside, on the way home, I have lost boost! It's boosting a little bit but nowhere near where it should be. The boost gauge needle only moves around 3 notches up maximum. I haven't had a chance to investigate further yet but my thinking, put on hybrid turbo, downpipe and afr gauge then start from there.

At least the old girl is fully road legal for another year!

Thanks for the compliment Matt. The 5 isn't too bad. Although obviously I can pick holes in her easily. Trying to sort them out slowly.

Need to get the grey carpet out and the red one back in! Afr gauge and oil pressure gauge fitted, hybrid turbo, 2.5" downpipe, new wheel bearings, exhaust knocks slightly, saggy door cards, battery cover fitted, small bit of rot appearing around the windscreen. So it's not 100% perfect, but not bad either!👍

    Re: OE+ Project

Only a small update but things have moved a little. Have decided to remove the dump valve and go for a blank- wastegate chatter for now!

Have also taken off the original plastic lobster inlet and fitted an old school gt tuning lobster elbow! It's looking a little better under the bonnet.

    Name: IMG_9672.jpg

Sadly I also took a peek under the bonnet and noticed why the lack of boost!! It was this that stopped me coming to the ND in her and the FCS! I thought it was something major and due to a dislocated knee I didn't want to investigate. So wish I had of now!

Have dug out my AFR gauge, 2.5 downpipe and hybrid turbo alongside the 'wardy' special a pillar double gauge holder!may try to fit some tonight! 👍
