    Subframe Measurements

I need a bit help with a few measurements of a GTT Subframe. The specific measurements I'm after are listed below and can really only be done with the Subframe off IMHO:

    - From the centre of the LH Wishbone FWD Mount (middle distance between the two lugs) to the centre of the RH Wishbone FWD Mount.

    - From the centre of the LH Wishbone REAR Mount (as above) to the centre of the RH Wishbone REAR Mount.

The reason I need the measurements is to help with some calculations I'm doing with the geometry that I will use to help with modifying my Leda Struts on my GTT as this will be converted to run 172 Wishbones on it's widetrack conversion. (The body work will be modified to accommodate the track width)

    Thanks in advance.

    Good post Royz.

Woz, are you looking to making your own subframe? I've been toying with this idea myself over the last two weeks, and making up my own rose join style wishbones too.

    Re: Subframe Measurements

Royz, that info is very useful, but not what I'm looking for. I need the dimensions between the wishbone pivots.

Goobie, yes and no! This isn't what I'm doing at the moment, but have seen a custom subframe for sale and thought it might be worth a crack. I'll try to find a pic.

I can't get the photo up from my phone, but here's the link to the site that sells them:

Little bit pricey for my taste!

    Here's the pic:

    Picutre SAVED!

Need to see a side profile and rear shot, I reckon I could make that without to much fuss (I don't mean this as in easly make it, but not practically complex looking.) , there really isn't much to it. I've been trying to pre design in my head a pair of wishbones being based on a pair of tubes set up.

This is what I've been thinking and for the rear when I get round to binning the torsion bar set up.

    Pictures stolen, not mine.

    Re: Subframe Measurements

I think it's ok to call it inspiration!

Here's some trick Front Wishbones and Anti-Roll Bar. The Anti-Roll Bar is actually std, but has had the ends modified to accept the adjustable links. The links are good for adjusting out any slight twist that may be present in the Bar.

There's quite a lot of stuff in the Euro Rally scene that has already been developed, but the language barrier keeps it at bay. I really want to brush up on my French as it will no doubt make this kind of research a lot easier.

    Re: Subframe Measurements

I can't remember exactly, but the same firm that sells the Subframe, sells a similar style Wishbone setup. Again the price is a little over the top IMHO. Some may argue that they have a pretty demanding job and therefor a quality product is going to cost? That's a debate for another time.

    Re: Subframe Measurements

Awesome! Thank you. This will help to get me in the right ball park for my geometry calculations. I've already ordered a few bits from UK, but when they arrive I'll have a better idea of where I need to put them.

Woz, I've just seen this sneaky wishbone mod by Handy. Could be some thing to add with your geo set up your working on.

Not only that but faster and will be near bang on sitting where you want to start before adjusting to suit, good little mod right there.

    Re: Subframe Measurements

I'm after one final dimension in regard to the front suspension and thats the distance (vertically) from the Wishbone pivots to the top of the strut towers. This will allow me to put all the dimensions into a calculator and start playing about with angles.

I'm going to try and measure this one myself, but it would probably be easier for someone with an empty engine bay.
