    EFI..ME please?

    HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP any one be kind enough to point me to a full rundown of whats needed to convert..(if such a guide exists??)..

    Im all wizarded out and im lost as to whats best to do manifold/spark wise amongst the rest of it

    Cheaper to change the lump mate...

    Id go f4r and run that. more reliable, faster and no turbo lag.

    Topcat is right mate, with the price you can get a crash damaged 172 nowadays a f4r is a much cheaper option.

    If however you really did want to efi an c1j lump, you need a throttle body, injectors, injection rail, some form of standalone engine management (megasquirt is cheapest if your confident/compedant enough to build one) trigger wheel and some for of ignition (personally I use edis) if you wanted to go distributor less, a different fuel pump (Bosch 044 again is something I've got)

    I think that's most basses but I'm sure I've forgotten something.

    F4r not faster without spending money, give over

    B18ft is a nice cheap efi lump.

    19. knock sensor and afr gauge is needed during ecu maping

    I think the main thing to consider regardless of the above is. -

    1. Budget.
    2. Are you going todo it your self.
    3. What do you want from the car.
    4. Do you really need and got the skill to go from simple fix on the road side engine to standalone ecu external software based problem fix.

    No matter what option you go, it will cost money, but if your a basic hands on person and not afraid to get stuck in, then maybe efi-ing the C1J is overall the best option as still pretty basic with ease of spares at friendly prices as not that much really when you beak it down on main engine parts etc, food for thought.

    Im determined to stick with the C1J as mine's only done about 3k now..plus its barn door engineering, and only 8 valves to bend

    Yup im hands on so no worries there, its more whats best way of doing the manifold as ive looked at modding the the orig c1j, ive looked at using XR3I EFI manifold too but just wondered if anyone has a sure fire approach to it..

    Reasoning is im SICK of carrying a bag of throttle diaphrams in the glovie plus we all know the solex aint really the most efficient way of gaining fuel economy so yeah just give the old mill a more efficient, reliable way of keeping it safe and solid as im sick of the AFR pinging about and drilling holes in erm holes

    dont bother with the skoda one. as i found out when i fitted it. sits where your downpipe should be. michaels are a nice easy fit and well built.

    Pretty sure there was a guy on here and ebay from Lithuania or some where selling a complete kit everything needed for about £800 that's a steal ecu alone is that much
