    downpipe

    hello folks
basically i contacted the good man boris about a downpipe.
long story short he told me if there was enough interest he would possible maybe contemplate think about making another batch

so just out of interest would anyone be interested ?
if so whack your name down and maybe we can persuade the good man to grace our cars with his finest pieces.

    Re: downpipe

Is everyone aware of how much it will cost given the quality and workmanship involved?

Hate to see everyone sign on then back out once they hear how much.

Either way I have also spoken to Boris myself, count me in:

reduces back pressure, allowing turbo to spin up quicker!!

    Re: downpipe

bit of quick info for the unaware(like me)

handmade turbo elbow/down pipe by boris (bms)
from what i gather it has a bigger bore which will allow as frix said gases to escape quicker resultin in less back pressure resulting in happy times
lambda sensor hole already built in for the use of lm-1/lc-1 or any other wideband or air fuel meter you got.

i thought theyd be a bit more than 130 but i cant say for sure...if so i dont mind but al guess we have to wait until the time comes

Isn't it a little pointless creating a list when a price hasn't been supplied? Maybe get one price for 10+ units and 20+ units etc?

I wouldn't mind one, but i've got a .64 back end, which uses a different stud pattern. I'll have to check to see if it's the same as the .49, I can't remember. All I remember is I had to use the mill to modify the casing so the stock elbow would fit on.

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

It's nice to see people are still intrested in the one-peice downpipe I created a year or so ago, at the time it was enjoyable making them.
On the last batch I made the prices of the laser cut flanges had increased, and the d/p price reflected that, the cheapest I could make them now would be around 160/170.
That's taking into account the laser cut flanges, mandrell bent pipe, lambda b+b, p+p, time taken to make ect.. Unfortunatly I can't sell them for any cheaper.

Anyways, it seems https://www.rtoc.org/boards/member.php?u=765 is ready to make a few using the jig from the 'msm' day's, sound's intresting as the one I saw looked nice. Im not in a rush to make any more so see what Jim is saying. (including pics/price?) If there any good im sure it will sort out the few people wanting a downpipe upgrade.
And is Scott K making some more 3" downipes?

Bms downpipes don't get cheaper the more you buy as it still takes the same amount of time to make each one.

Mind you, If Big Jim can knock em' out for a possible tonne+ with nice quality then it must be a win-win for the buyer.

    Re: downpipe

Thanks for the kind words Boris (about the pipe that is!!). I've mentioned on another thread that if I get a minimum of 10 confirmed orders then I will make a batch for 150 squids each. They are a bit of work, but lucky for you lot I've just found a VERY reasonable supplier for laser cut flanges. PM me if you're interested.

PS I could also make them any size you want (for a supplement, of course!). The problem is the bottom joint which (unless you're having a custom sytem as well) will always be limited to 2 1/2".

    or is that system?!

1 question,im sure i read that they come with a hole for an AFR sensor or something and i dont have an AFR gauge...im not too hot on technical stuff so are the pipes supplied with these holes or is it just a case of a pm saying (no holes please) to the maker or would i have to get some kind of bung to plug the hole up?

EGT should be measured BEFORE the turbo.
