    AFR lambda mounting

    Hello,

    just got car from the mechanics and he put the lambda sensor for the AFR on the exhaust manifold Is that OK? I thougt it should be mounted on the down pipe...

    Yeah it needs to be on the down pipe. 6-8 inches(?) from the turbo.

    did he not read the destructions.......

    I know you can use them as far away as the tail pipe but they do read leaner the further away they are from the downpipe.

    Never heard of any going in the exhaust manifold tho, must have took him ages to drill and tap it and or weld the bung in.......

    whilst not being ideal I'm not sure other than heat what the difference will actually be........

    If he ballsed up the hole and weld I would rather be replacing a down pipe than a manifold! That's probably a good reason why they say to put it in the down pipe.... Cheaper if anything goes wrong.
