To lighten the mood and get back to what really matters even ...

.... if it's not an upsidedown skip

Martin Faulks tweaked heads just landed at RATS' HQ ...

Flowed with bigger valves ,balanced chambers etc etc etc .
This is going into a rather special project that has been here for some time but is now starting to go back together with all the major mods done ...ish .

Yes and within sensible limits .
Not possible to run on std Renix so will be up to Runcorn at some point for standalone .Turbo matched by MF and we are aiming for 350 road useable .Car will most likely never be driven in real anger and we are trying to avoid any major box upgrades at this point so 350 should be nice and safe .
UN1 starts to get twitchy over this and upgrades whilst available do come in at a hefty wedge ...
Engine bay needs to look OE but there will be a mishmash of 610 and GTA components to give best results .
In the best Blue Peter tradition ...hers's one .....

When you're ready I'll come up if you like and fit it and we'll do a system clean up, fit the new pump and get it running right.

I have another 610 just finished that needs the system sorting ..We think one of the main problems is the ducting in the dash though as it couldn't blow the skin off even at full chat .

Have you had the dash out? It's unusual for the ducting to come off. Although, it is a renault lol.

Whenever you're ready mate. Be better in e winter rather than the spring/summer cos obviously summers are our busy time.

It would be a dash off job, is it just air flow or is it just not getting cold?

Theres a renault 25 on ebay with the v6 turbo engine and a manual gearbox.
Is that the same engine in your model clee? Are they any good?

Love it really tidy. So is it just these cars you specialise in or do you do other models/makes?

The un1 might not be as weak as you think. I'm running mine at around 400bhp & l&b/ft and it's been fine.
And It only ever gets used in anger lol.
Most of the horror stories of them breaking at 350lbs is when they're in a heavy v8 with massive slicks putting much more stress/strain on them.

I guess mines a bit lighter but I do have 235 wide rear tyres so get plenty of grip.

Good to know .I think it's 5th that causes the worry but we'll just have to see .
I only do these atm Chris but need to get into something else as well ....

Re: To lighten the mood and get back to what really matters even ...

5th can break off if put under a load of stress. The gearbox was origionally designed as a 4speed and they literally bolted 5th onto the end of the shaft, there's also a step in the shaft and that causes a weak point.
The other main problem is the joint in the input shaft, mainly the step again as for some clever reason renault put these weak points in the system.
Generally speaking if you don't have a huge torque spike and loads of grip from a diff/slicks you should be fine.

Those valve spring setups look very similar to the 21....I should have a supplier of double springs should sir ever require some (and they are the same of course)

No problem theye mate- I carry a R12 replacement refrigerant on one of my vans- it'll just be a reclaim if the old refrigerant- vac out, pressurise and replace with the at replacement refrigerant. won't need to change valves or the oil.
