    Wishbone polybushes

    2 questions:

First one is easier, is there a preferred type?

Second question, what are the dimensions? I'm looking to fit them on the Twingo, and it's likely that they'll be the same size as either GTT or clio. I don't have GTT bits to hand. I'm interested in the diameter of the hole in the wishbone, the length and ID of the metal pin, and finally the thickness and OD of the tophat part of the bush.

    thanks,
    Andy

I tried the yellow cgb ones and they were rubbish.
Then upgraded to proper powerflex purple ones and they were superb.

Are the powerflex ones the ones with the large dia metal tube that you have to weld into the wishbone?

Yes that's correct although I never got round to welding mine.
It's just a small tack weld each side.

I found the cgb ones flexed under hard braking and led to strange handling.

Powerflex also make a new black version which is extra stiff for track use.

Thinking of buying Powerflex purple ones, do you have to weld onto the wishbone?

The outers are pressed into the wishbone but they recommend a small tack weld each side.
Whilst the wishbones are off its no biggie to tack weld them, they are like that from Renault Iirc.
Just don't go mad and melt them.

That's interesting info as I have a set of the PolySport Yellow Bushes from CGB that I was going to fit. Haven't bothered up until now as my OE bushes are relatively new. I think the Power Flex Bushes seem to be more faithful to the OE design.

Here's another solution that I had not seen before. Not sure how long they would last, but maybe worth a try?...

    Andy, dimensions are as follows:

    Polyurethane Bush

    Length: 47.30mm
    Small OD: 33.15mm
    Small OD length: 25.65
    Large OD: 44.00mm
    Large OD to Flat: 40.00mm
    Large OD length: 21.65
    ID: 18.90mm

    Stainless Sleeve

    Length: 46.20mm
    OD: 19.05mm
    ID:12.30mm

These are brand new straight out of the packet, but they've been in the packet for about six years!

    Re: Wishbone polybushes

Andy, just for some more info, some of the 172 guys over here have had their Powerflex metal outer sleeves deform together with the Poly Bush. I've just had a look on the Powerflex website and it looks like they have modified the metal Outer Sleeve with a more robust solution.

Also, Superpro (an Australian suspension company) have a listing for GTT Lower Control Arm Bushes and there are some measurements, but they use a two part poly bush for each location and the dimensions look a little on the small side compared to what I've measured?

    Re: Wishbone polybushes

Sadly the diameter is too small, plus the twingo has different bushes fore and aft

Those superpro look completely wrong, I wonder if they're for a MK1 5?

    Re: Wishbone polybushes

Andy, have a look on the SuperPro site as they have a Bush finder application that will search for bushes based on one particular dimension. Might net you something that is in the ball park?
